DE Jack Sawyer (All B1G)

I feel like the best example of the Jack/LEO is watching Von Miller in the Buffalo Bills defense tonight. Utterly disruptive from the stand up DE position, but also covering in space.

Not sure I agree…

Jack sets the edge better and probably is better in the run game than Von who is a sack master. Their size is similar but I feel like Jack might have more initial punch where Von has more athleticism and speed.

With Sawyer playing a stand up DE mist snaps, he’s going to be a coveted 3-4 OLB.

He reminds me a lot of Connor Barwin who was an absolute stud for the Eagles. Dude who can rush the passer or absolutely shut down the run game. It’s hard to do both but I think Jack is that guy. He’s a wrecking ball….

Sawyer was the most disruptive player on Ohio State's defense yesterday. He was in the backfield on so many plays that went well for the Buckeyes. The stat sheet will not adequately reflect the amount of plays he affected. And the stat sheet isn't even bad: 5 total tackles (1 off the team lead), with 2 TFL and 1 sack.

Agreed he flashed multiple times. A less mobile QB and they may have had double digit sacks

I think that's the nature of the Jack. He's dismantled so many plays already this season but only the opponent is really going to acknowledge him.

Yeah, Finn was really elusive.

Buckeyes defensive end Jack Sawyer (33) can’t quite get a hold of Rockets quarterback Dequan Finn (7) during first half action in the game between the University of Toledo Rockets and the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
