I have zero hesitation in saying that from top to bottom, we have the best coaching staff in the country. Listening to Coach Knowles is like breathing fresh air when you've had a mask on all week as some of you may remember from the Covid explosion. He's a no bullshit kind of guy and I love it!

I want to think that too, but want to reserve some of my excitement until games are played. But every interview I've watched with Knowles makes me more excited that he's OSU's coach. Matter of fact, all of the new coaches bring a level of excitement and experience that we haven't seen in a while. But from the Urban years of hiring, I now have to temper my excitement

It’s not a similar scheme

Brown relied far more on man coverage. Knowles uses some man (so does everyone but Earle Bruce), but mixes in a lot of zone, and in zone you’ll never know whether it’s storm or cloud or if he’s sending a blitz (or from which level) or dropping the jack… Not until after the snap anyway.

Edit: And it wasn’t the run that Brown had the most trouble with

They are pretty cocky for sure. Glad to hear, because, OSU steam rolled them with Brown as DC.

The big "soft" factor last year, I think was due to the youth up front. My only concern isn't the edge, but having big guys in the middle to clog up the holes.

All in all, I am optimistic about Knowles.

Amusing thing is Don Brown probably destroyed their offense in practice. Cause to beat Don Brown you had to be able to take advantage on of the one on ones throwing the ball and they have never shown the ability to beat people with the pass alone under Harbaugh

I'm sold.

I don't know if ND is really a top five team but I do know they're not a MAC team. On a night where JSN was injured early, and the offense struggled into the 3rd quarter, Knowles' defense held the fort. ND had one good drive, aided by a miracle third down catch, and did nothing in the second half.
