Violations could cut Washington's playing time

CHICAGO -- Ohio State coach Jim Tressel yesterday would not confirm the rumor that starting cornerback Donald Washington will have to sit out some early in the season after breaking unspecified team rules in the spring, but he did indicate Washington faces further jeopardy.
"I can't say much, but he's working hard ? to get his 'car keys' back," Tressel said to the media before the Big Ten kickoff luncheon.
In Ohio State's preseason media guide, Chimdi Chekwa, who played corner in the nickel defense last year, is listed as the starter, with Washington as the backup.
"I'm not sure what it is from a coaching standpoint. I'm not sure whether (Washington) is going to miss a few games or start," said senior cornerback Malcolm Jenkins, who starts on the other side.. "I know whatever it is, he's going to make an impact whenever he gets in there
