THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

NEW ORLEANS -- It appears Donald Washington can choose his words as carefully as he can cover receivers.
The Ohio State cornerback yesterday stepped gingerly when addressing an incident that threatened to keep him from playing in the national championship game. The Dispatch reported that he successfully appealed a possible suspension for violating a team rule.
He did not talk about what happened, but he acknowledged something happened.
"There's been a lot of smoke around it, and the smoke cleared and I'm here," he said. "Whatever it was, it came out on the positive end, so I'm not really here to touch on that. The game is two days away. My main concern is getting prepared for the game."

SI writer Andy Staples named Donald to his 'All two-star' team, based on which under-the-radar recruits have blossomed.

All two-star team
Players who have gone from under the radar to stars

This isn't an indictment of the rankings by any means; Rivals and Scout.com are just as accurate at predicting success as most big-money coaches. That's why SI.com has picked our first All Two-Star (And Fewer) Team. It features players who barely made a blip on the recruiting radar but wound up becoming stars.

CB Donald Washington, Ohio State (Rivals: 2 stars)

Washington's other options were Indiana, Illinois and Duke, which are all good choices, but none are on Ohio State's level. Washington beat out more highly regarded players to start for a program that has played in the past two national title games.

Donald Washington Appreciates Being a Buckeye..............Donald thinks the "sky is the limit" for this team and comments on helping others and the fact that Coach Tressel encourages players to reach out to people in need.

That was a great article. I was very impressed with how well-spoken Donald was.....a real tribute to his family and the people that have surrounded him. I really do believe that the sky is the limit for this team. Now, if only this was the end of August :(
