DB Brendon White (transfer to Rutgers)

So just watched his hudl film... yeah he's not bad at WR lol.

His ability to go laterally and then explode north south is impressive. Bigger body as well so he should be a good blocker also.

Glad we seem to be getting bigger bodies at WR. Add in Harris at 6 foot 5 and you have a handful of guys who are over 6 foot 2 and have experience playing WR more importantly (two of which are over 6 foot 4)

Always really liked his film at WR and make no bones about it, he played that position against some elite DB's at camp last summer. With Browning and Werner on board at LB, and Pryor maybe sliding down, plus the departure of Brown and Samuel, this makes a lot of sense to me in the immediate future. At least start him out there and see how he comes along.

Incoming Linebacker Brendon White Moved to Receiver

BrendonWhite3.jpg

Incoming Ohio State freshman Brendon White played a number of positions in high school, including quarterback, but now after already getting in a few practices at linebacker for the Buckeyes, he is headed for 'Zone6' and the OSU receivers room.

White is already enrolled, and because he didn't take part in any postseason all-star games, he actually practiced with the Buckeyes a few times on campus last month during bowl prep. At that point he was still practicing with the linebackers, however.

What kind of receiver prospect is he? Well, prior to his senior season he measured in at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds and ripped off a 4.54 40-yard dash at a Nike combine. He was a First-Team All-State defensive back as a junior, but has plenty of experience at receiver as well.

With the unexpected departure of Noah Brown to the NFL, having White already on campus to go through winter workouts and spring practice will give both him and the Buckeyes a leg up on finding prospective replacements.

White was the second defender moved to receiver on Wednesday, as the incoming freshman joined rising junior safety Eric Glover-Williams as the newest members of Zone 6.

The 2017 recruiting class now has ̶t̶h̶r̶e̶e̶ two receivers in it, as White is joined by Trevon Grimes and ̶T̶y̶j̶o̶n̶ ̶L̶i̶n̶d̶s̶e̶y̶. Four-star Cleveland receiver Jaylen Harris has his Ohio State official set for next weekend.

At 200 pounds he may have been a bit undersized for a LB; however, I think he'll be a very tough capable WR that can throw a block downfield too.

Uhh, this guy can tell that Brendon can catch the ball in traffic over the middle with his strong hands based on 7on7's without pads and no hitting? I'm not saying Brendon can't do it and am in no way disparaging Brendon. Just pointing out the absurdity of the analyst. He's basically just saying what you want to hear in a WR prospect but I doubt you can determine that based on 7on7's.

There's a need and the move (probably of both White and EGW) is also a message. The receivers have been too passive in the passing game. We need a little dog over there. I was pulling for Campbell and McLaurin and maybe they were just hampered by the previous offensive staff, but they better ball out now or get passed up. Victor's come to play, KJ Hill is a player, and Mack should be as well. Add Grimes and these two and if you haven't yet gotten substantial PT, you might not ever.

Agree on all points! I was one of the biggest McLaurin cheerleaders upon his signature to enroll. I still root for him as a person, but on the field, he and Campbell have underwhelmed so far, and could VERY easily see their careers flash by quickly while watching young bucks like Victor, Hill, Mack and even White, Grimes (and possibly Harris) flourish in the new offense. The best will certainly play, and Wilson has no loyalty to any players

SIGNED: FOUR-STAR BUCKEYE LEGACY BRENDON WHITE FULFILLS CHILDHOOD DREAM, BRINGS VERSATILITY TO OHIO STATE

The future stars of Ohio State football officially begin their Buckeye careers as standouts from all over the country put pens to their National Letters of Intent.

Oftentimes when a prospect commits to a home school fairly early in the process, the recruiting outlets seem to to have a different perception of the player.

Brendon White, the son of former Buckeye defensive back William White, really didn't receive a lot of attention from other schools after he committed back in October of 2015. In a way, you really can't blame the other programs. Schools probably just correctly assumed that the Ohio State legacy wasn't going to end up anywhere other than Columbus.

White was listed as a three-star safety at the time of the pledge, but unlike many others in these situations, he actually saw his ratings skyrocket after making his college commitment.

During the summer of 2015, he held early offers from Boston College, Marshall, and Toledo, but was hearing from a few Big Ten schools as well. In speaking to Scout.com's Bill Greene, the Olentangy Liberty star made it abundantly clear on where he wanted to spend his college days.

"I'm hearing from Ohio State and I've been there for a visit," he added. "I'm also hearing from Michigan State and Indiana. If I get the offer from Ohio State, I will commit there. It's my dream school, and I want to follow in my dad's footsteps."

Michigan State and Notre Dame would both offer in September of that year, and White would then make a trip to Ohio State's campus later in the month. An offer and subsequent commitment followed shortly thereafter.

Part of the reason for White's early three-star rating was because the pundits really didn't know what position he would ultimately play. His potential was through the roof, but he was sort of in the "jack of all trades, master of none" category at the time.

The Buckeyes held early commitments from Shaun Wade, Marcus Williamson, and Isaiah Pryor, and they were well on their way to the historic defensive back class that has since come to fruition. Naturally, many began to speculate that White – at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds – would ultimately end up at linebacker.
