2023 CT OL Olaus Alinen (Alabama Signee)

We need this guy bad. But for some reason losing him to Miami solely because of the money doesn’t hurt as bad as losing him to Bama.

Let's not be the fanbase that blames every recruiting loss on NIL/up front money. Sure some money has been offered or showed how they cam be earned, but Cristobal has always been an elite recruiter, especially on the OL. OSU can barely show an example of a recent 1st round draft pick on OL, while Cristobal just had a lottery pick a year ago. Not to mention, the OC for Miami also can show OL recruits how he coached a dominant OL against OSU in the Game just last year.

Like I've said in an NIL thread, Miami is doing a great job with the excitement over their new HC and staff, and also an excited booster willing to provide every NIL benefit to win. But that's the thing, Cristobal needs to WIN, and BIG! If Miami doesn't win the ACC in 2-3yrs, will Mr. Ruiz and LifeWallet continue to keep that wallet open? He's going to want a massive ROI after helping to secure what looks like a class that is going to be in the top 3, and top 5 at worst. But Cristobal has been an up and down coach on the field, and got bent over by Utah twice last year, and had a number of close games when he had the superior talent. If he can't take the ACC from Clemson and Swinney then I don't see how they can continue landing this amount of talent yearly, IMO

Sour grapes review is that he’s not a sure fire OT, at least not initially, after struggling in space at a recent camp. We’ll see how that goes at Bama, where I wouldn’t put it past them to develop him into an outside guy, but he might be an interior guy, which would make the loss easier to rationalize away.
