UV light does work to kill the virus on surfaces. The company I work for actually came up with a device to sterilize pre-worn masks etc. It's nothing more than an empty electical control panel box with UV lights inside on a timer.
Our normal scope of work is robotics and automation, so we had pretty much everything on hand in the shop. Had it tested and approved then made a bunch of them and donated them to local hospitals, fire stations, jails, etc. This was back when PPE was in extremely short supply last month. Just please disregard the absolutely stupid name the office staff came up with for it!
Warning! Shameless Promotion Ahead!

Nursing homes aren’t outdoors. Meat packing plants aren’t outdoors. Prisons aren’t outdoors. Mass transit is not outdoors. Schools are not outdoors. Funeral homes are not outdoors. Enough examples? Don’t you feel silly now?
What's the logic jump from "UV light is being used to kill germs on a bus" to "Go the fuck outside"?
I assume you are aware that the sun produces a broad spectrum of UV light. Possibly a stupid assumption on my part.
Hawaii has been fortunate enough to have one of the lowest per-capita rates of cases and deaths due to COVID-19 in the country. One of the biggest factors is that we get as much daily sunshine as any place in the US, and people here get outside as much as they are able to. I've been posting for probably a month now about how people here have been out walking, jogging, and biking (and yes, many are surfing), virtually all of them without masks. Now, folks here are also extremely compliant with the in-store masks rules, which I'm sure is a significant factor, too. But the role that the constant sunny weather (along with warm temperatures) here has played in the extremely low numbers of cases and deaths simply cannot be ignored.
So the people who have gotten this and the people who have died from this didn't see the sun? Were you confined to underground tunnels when you "got" this earlier?I assume you are aware that the sun produces a broad spectrum of UV light. Possibly a stupid assumption on my part.
