Coronavirus (COVID-19) is too exciting for adults to discuss (CLOSED)

We had our Christmas in Western Illinois yesterday..90 years old to 10 months. Two were just home from Cancun. We were there eating playing games opening gifts. The word Co Vid was never spoken once. Contrasted to my brother in Ohio is getting together with his wife’s family probably 10 to 12 people. All had to pass a CoVid test to gather. They are waiting on the grandparents to see if they can have Christmas this afternoon.

Was out to dinner on Thursday with the wife, one kid and some friends of the family. Dinner was at a local, privately owned, restaurant. During dinner a political figure came over to talk with us as she lives in town and is friendly with our friends. This person has run at the state and national level.

In interest of full disclosure, I’ve voted for this person on multiple occasions prior to the Covid thing.

Without being overly political, I’ll also disclose that I am a Constitutional Libertarian but often find my voting leaning right of center.

Anyhow, we were discussing where kids were all heading off to school. This person has one who is a senior and one more who is at a military academy. Interestingly, this person and spouse are also alumni of the academy.

When asked if the senior was planning on taking an appointment the response was, “No, I think we’ll pass on that… They’re a bit ‘woke’ over there… they require everyone to be vaccinated…”

Candidly, it floored me. This person is highly intelligent — by most measures — yet, because of the political narrative coming from the party, slurring the name of one of the academies — note, the alma mater — using the word ‘woke’ came without hesitation.

Politics are bad. Very bad.

My Christmas wish for everyone is to be healthy and if, by choice, you are not vaccinated… that the Covid bug not do much damage to you or your loved ones… and that the sheeple on both sides of the aisle learn how to start thinking for themselves.

It's bad enough when others put you into a box based on your political leaning but when you do it to yourself it's even worse.

Hard to be apart again unexpectedly from family, just like Thanksgiving. Thankful for zoom to let us at least see each other.

Very grateful for a few fortuitous things that delayed our trip to see family by 12 hours, long enough for me to develop a tiny cough and test positive. Both moms are at extreme risk for any bug, let alone covid.

Doing fine (mild congestion and just a bit sleepy, always feels like it's 3 am), the booster doing its job.

Sorry to hear that you had to miss face to face, but at least you'll live another day to see them. I know of a few people who passed for various non-covid reasons the past week, so that idea of appreciating life has resonated.

Get well and glad the booster is helping out!

Indeed. And like usual, He enjoys the most unlikely ways to accomplish His plan

Tl:biggrin:r; version - potential exposure kept away from family by a series of trip delays, the frontrunner being an Ill advised trip to dogslingers , then a flippamt choice to drive far to look at a house before driving home, then doing a little am work long enough to develop a tiny cough and ask for a friend's at home test.

That’s a huge leap if it’s the new strain.
kind of impossible to know which one it is, or how the new strain plays out. Too new.

Something is doing its job. Not possible to determine whether that's luck, immune system, vax, booster, or if one inherits super powers after residing here long enough

Super Powers are science. The rest is speculative.

Glad you are alright.

A couple of things that I've read recently is that omicron may be the virus' last gasp. Delta was it at its peak, and now it is finally dying off. Secondly, and should that not be the case, they think that the combination of Vax, booster and fighting off omicron is giving people a form of super immunity should a delta type variant reemerge.

and I just stocked up on fish tank cleaner

I started feeling ill last Thursday. It got worse over the next couple days, and then improved a little. I figured it was just a cold. This morning I had my annual physical. Because of my symptoms (coughing, congestion, headaches, tired), they did a Covid test. Turns out it was just a cold. Steroid shot and I was on my way.
And yes, I am vaccinated (but no booster).
