I don't think you understand to what lengths I would stoop to miss a work potluck.

Omicron variant? That's a lot more convenient than faking my own death.

Amen to this. I’ve had multiple jobs that I’d rather have been dragged by horses across a mile of shards of glass before having to fake another fucking smile while dealing with the people I worked with.

Thankfully, I’d not say that — in general — about the people I work with now. Certainly none in my org. But yeah, plenty of examples in my past where I’d have had someone cough on me just to have the excuse to not go.

Omicron went from 3% of cases to 73% in a week. Damn!

So, on a serious note… isn’t Omicron — if it’s what we’re being told — exactly what we should be hoping for? A variant that spreads like wild fire and has relatively low impact on the host, both short and long term? I’m not intending to make light of the situation in any way, but if this is as suggested, it _could_ be a natural vaccine for those who are refusing to get stuck, provided there are immunity benefits as well.

Dunno…

At the end of the day, I’m vax’d and boosted and managed to not catch it while sleeping next to a vax’d wife who had a breakthrough case. She’s fine now. Negative Antigen and positive PCR, so that means she definitely HAD it, but is currently not producing replicating virus in her system, so she’s not contagious now… but sure as shit, I know damn well, we weren’t socially distancing in any way while she was contagious.

That's where I'm at. I'm no armchair epidemiologist but this latest variant does seem to be a pandemic for the unvaccinated.

Similar to my experience. I'm fully vaxed but haven't had the booster. My wife had covid last November, prior to either of us having had any shot. We didn't social distance at all, slept in the same bed, etc. I never tested positive despite 4 tests. She had a breakthrough of the delta variant some time this past summer. She and I both were fully vaccinated by then and her symptoms were more mild than her first go round. We practice zero social distancing (that is, between she and I). I have still, to this day, never tested positive. Knock on wood.

Whaddya mean you haven’t had the booster? I have it on good authority that you never met a needle you didn’t like. I read it on the InterWebs somewhere.

Not even a highly contagious virus wants to be caught with you. Think on that for a bit, you putz.

Similar to my experience as well. And I didn’t catch Covid from your wife, either.

I am pretty sure that I caught Covid from one of you or your wives when I was doing those charity events, wheeling you all around at your nursing homes.
