Are you? Some of the most relieving experiences on this board have been after getting in an argument and then just admitting I was wrong.

are you happy that you were right? seems like you should have been hoping I was right. instead you are coming off as someone who is truly satisfied that more people died so you could be right..

am I happy I was wrong? no, fucktard. i wanted less death and for this to be over. what kind of sick fuck are you????

It’s almost as if someone’s ego was involved... :eyeroll:

You’ll be better off to just let it go. The colors that some people have shown through this do not look very attractive. Just leave it at that and move on.

Right, but it didn't directly result in two more giant fiery pileups the following week. If I have a heart attack, it doesn't cause four more people to have heart attacks in the following weeks. A pandemic is a pandemic. It's not a deadly accident or a heart attack or cancer. It has its own rules, and trying to pound the square peg into the round hole doesn't alter those rules.

It's the fucking COMMON COLD. A particularly contagious and nasty strain, to be sure, but we've shut down the world FOR A FREAKING COLD. take a z-pack and drink some orange juice. If you are scared of catching a cold, then by all means, live the rest of your paranoid life locked in a bubble. But you will NEVER build up antibodies unless you're exposed to this COLD VIRUS.

We should be providing monthly stimulus to everyone until the July/August. We should be more worried about small businesses and loans that could keep most of them afloat. We should be providing increased hazard pay ($15+) and PPE to everyone working in grocery stores and in warehouses who have to come in contact with hundreds of people a day.

But for a long time that's not what this country has been about. Instead we pumped trillions into the stock market that will almost certainly free fall again once people loose their homes and no one goes out for holiday spending because they have no money. We're more worried about padding Boeing's pockets who what, a year ago killed hundreds of people due to rushing out patches for a plane instead of taking a hit that would save lives?

Let's cut the shit when people try to accuse sides of caring more about body counts and less about unemployment & lost wages, as if we've cared about poverty, healthcare or shit dead-end minimum wage jobs for more than when it's useful. The US has not been a country about the working and middle class for decades now, and the result of that is we're really fucking showing out when it comes to disaster during a pandemic.

Outside of NY and NJ, cases are still rising. The US is going to hit 100k+ deaths by the end of May. Believe it, don't, it's up to you. But being concerned about deaths and infection counts doesn't make you a body count worshiper, and it doesn't make you blind to an awful economic situation. It just means the US has to do something that seems terrifying for some reason: pay its citizens monthly to stay home. And create another new deal to help it out of the depression that will be coming when this is over.

sorry for the wall of text
Not sure what the fuck Wall Street has to do with this, but if you're so worried about small businesses then maybe we should let them open up at their discretion. You want to provide monthly stimulus checks for another 3-4 months and give $15/hour "hazard pay" to grocery and warehouse workers...where in the fuck is this money coming from?

My company is forbidden from operating until the very last of the restrictions is lifted on large groups. Our ban will be at least 4 months and could easily last for years until a vaccine. That's without getting into whether our customer base will still be willing or able to spend when that comes around.

Of course, the flip side of that is that the inevitability of this is greater for me, with almost no chance to return to normal, so I also have little hope of this being fixed anytime soon. That surely colors my approach to this as well.
Sorry to hear this. Hopefully things either improve there or you can find another viable line of work.

Look, I understand that you want to get back to work, but to pretend this is a common cold is just flat out fucking ignorant. Yes, the common cold and COVID19 are both a coronavirus, but that's where the similarity ends.

And here's a comparison of the difference in contagiousness between it and a common flu strain:

thanks, man. We should be ok, and are blessed with a lot of people helping us out. Was offering it up for context more than sympathy but I do appreciate it.

We previously photographed horse shows with all large groupings. We are going to pivot to portraits and other new forms of photography sessions to produce income for ourselves and as many others as we can, but that quantity of others is going to be small. There's no chance of replacing the revenue and hours for the rest of few dozen folks (mostly seasonal or part time). And we're very small potatoes with a lot less debt and employees than most, and could conceivably come back quicker than most if somehow the scientists find a treatment/tracker by mid summer.

It was emotionally devastating when we had our PPP application derailed (long story), and that heartache and anger a temporary delay of help to our employees that will eventually be resolved (still waiting on SBA like many businesses). I can't imagine the stress and pain for those who provide full time jobs for dozens to hundreds of employees and have built this for decades (we are still In the early years).

Considering you know nothing about me, I guarantee someone who doesn’t know the answer to that.

It’s funny watching people making general posts personal though...says something.

It was intentionally rhetorical. If you can live with, or better, feel good about what you’ve done and what you will do, you’re better than most. Not judging, but stimulating thought.

But let’s not pretend that, if it is in fact the case, you are a generous giver to those in need, that we’re not in a significant minority.

Ultimately, the point is that need takes multiple forms. To continue to speak loudly about one set of needs at the expense of others’ needs comes across less as compassion and more sounding like petulant children demanding their way.

Jesus. I didn't ask if you were happy that you were wrong, fucktard. I asked if you were happy now that you've let yourself admit it. And while I'm at it....I wasn't right about anything. I didn't make a definitive comment about it being the next plague vs it being the sniffles. So I have nothing to be happy about.

But to answer my own question for you...I guess you're not. Which makes sense....because those relieving moments I was talking about came with the realization that I was wrong and that it's ok to be wrong, whereas you clearly haven't had that realization yet, fucktard.

Which can get dismissed as misclassification

Meanwhile if you just combine them

I still think the most indisputable is the deaths, and this is while almost everyone limits their contact (even if there is some inconsistency)

That second reply is something to keep in mind during all of this.

Almost everyone that I've seen has been wearing a mask, but covidiots are here too. I mentioned the old guy at the wine store in Highland Park who tried to force contact with the employee (store only does stay in your car curbside pickup) and when the employee put his case on the ground and went back inside yelled "THIS IS FUCKING NUTS!" Guy was probably in his late 60s, so one has to wonder whether he's been McDaniel'd.

Illinois isn't without its share of dimwits.

Not gonna lie, that was a sweet sidestep! Hahaha!!

Maybe he brought up Wall St because that's where the money could have come from.
