So hospitals aren't being or expecting to see a surge and the near 3,000 deaths in less than 2 weeks is.... not accurate?

There’s likely truth to both sides. Like @lvbuckeye, I’m pretty sure that I had it in January as well. I was in Vegas for CES for a week... between proximity to people and who was in that population and how I felt for the middle of and end of January. Moreover, I’m pretty sure that I spread it to my son who had a far worse reaction than I did. I know of plenty others who also were knocked on their butts around this time. Any way to be sure without an antibody test... nope.

But there is also this matter of awareness. People who are showing any kind of symptoms are scared out of their wits, and in many cases, rightfully so. Looking back, had I had the knowledge of such a virus at the time, I probably would have gone in for testing... and I sure as heck would have forced my kid to get tested. With a lack of that awareness we both did what we do... muscle through it.

I’m very interested in the progress toward an antibody test so we can start getting decent denominators for all the projections.

While that would be great progress, I have zero clue how you get mass antibody testing conducted... send it through the mail? That’s just a joke... a poor one.
