BTW, I'm guessing this line has already made the rounds, but I just saw it today on FB:

...wants all the kids out there to know you can acheive anything you want in life... as long as Jay Leno doesn't want it, too.
It's by Conan from Deety's video montage link, which I quoted when posting the next day's worth of videos. Definitely watch them if you haven't already

Thanks. I found it after I posted, but my ISP seized up (again! :mad1:) and I couldn't edit it.

This whole thing has me really jonesing to see the old (HBO, I think) movie about the last Tonight show debacle, featuring Leno & Letterman. It was called The Late Show or The Late Shift--had some pretty funny stuff in it. I recall Leno did not ultimately come off looking too good in that one, either. I can only pray HBO has a staff working 24-7 shifts cranking out Part Deux--this just begs for it.

Leno finally starts throwing out his own cheapshots, but conveniently waits until Friday so there will be no recourse for three days

Deal Is Expected Soon In NBC?s Talks With O?Brien - NYTimes.com
-Mr. O’Brien, who had a guaranteed contract for another two and a half years at a salary that has been reported to be $10 million to $20 million a year, is expected to get a settlement that will pay him more than $30 million. In addition, under the terms now on the table, he would win the right to start a new show at some other network, probably as early as September. ... cont'd

Conan's ebay auction for the carryon bag is 1 dollar shy of a million:

30M to walk? If he didn't have that giant ego to feed I'd say he made out just fine.

Looks like Conan's not sure that $30M will be enough. Aside from the carry-on bag on Ebay, he's also got the whole show up for sale on Craigslist. Based on his comments the other night, it appears he actually looks at some of the offers. So far, people have tried to barter their grandparents, a storage shed, and one rather obese tabby cat.

TMZ is reporting

Once Conan leaves NBC, he will have to pay a set amount of money if he says anything disparaging about the network. It's also being reported that the amount NBC pays Conan will be reduced by any amount he makes from his next hosting job. Sources say he had a similar offset claude in his existing contract with NBC.

So could he join FOX for $1.00 a day and make NBC fork out the rest?

Great idea, but I'm guessing there's some "fair market value" language in the contract to protect against it.

They never gave Conan a fair chance. I wonder what the big chinned bitch's ratings would have been if Carson moved to an earlier time slot.

On the other hand, if Leno had tanked the way Conan did, he wouldn't have lasted long. Instead he killed the comp.

This thing seems to me to be a lot like New Coke. You get a shot, but if the market goes South you cut your losses and fall back on Old Coke.

We get it. You're old, you like Leno. It's only natural. :p
