Yeah, definitely looks that way in the trailers.. I don't think it'll be a super-Trek movie, but the early reviews are saying that there's a good mix of characters and action, so that's a good sign.

Yeah, I'm still planning to see it. I've enjoyed other things Abrams has worked on, so it seems worth the risk.

It's enough to move even a Star Wars fan to tears.

I think JJ Abrams walks the line gracefully between honoring the original series and introducing the pop culture movie masses to these characters.

If you care about this universe (and I do, damn it), you won?t sit passively through J.J. Abrams?s restart Trek. You?ll marvel at the smarts and wince at the senselessness. You?ll nitpick it to death and thrill to it anyway.

Quotes from reviews that should make Star Trek fans happy. :p

I was just reading about the X-Men: Origins spin offs. I'm sure they're a couple years away at best, but I'm pumped. I'll be watching all of them.

So far, what I've been able to find are "Origins" of Magneto (:banger:), and a Wolverine sequel. Also a Deadpool movie. The merc with a mouth. Fuckin' A.

What I'd REALLY like to see tho, is an X-Men Origins: Gambit movie. Please make this happen.

Also, I was thouroughly unimpressed with parts of the G.I. Joe trailer. Everything seemed pretty fucking sweet, imo, right up untill the stupid flying suits the Joes were wearing. WTF? I mean, the acid shit that consumed the Eiffel Tower? Fine, it's G.I. Joe, and Cobra did shit like that. But the Joes don't need flying suits damnit.

As soon as I saw the cast for GI Joe, I stopped giving a shit about it.

Star Trek lived up to, and surpassed, the hype IMO.

Now also looking forward to 'Hangover' (Tyson air drumming to Phil Collins = Gold) and 'Year One' with Jack Black and George Michael Bluth. Also, Pixar's 'Up'.

Earned those reviews. Fantastic movie. I'm not anywhere close to a Trekkie, I enjoyed a couple of the movies with the original cast (particularly 'Wrath of Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!'), but the familiar ending with the "boldly going where no man has gone before" voiceover and the shot of the enterprise managed to give me chills. Cannot wait for the sequel(s). :banger:
