Thanks for the update. We are heading down for our first MLS game ever tonight.

Awesome! Should be plenty of tailgating fun outside the stadium. Crew Union, HSH, and La Turbina are some of the groups who REALLY know how to tailgate. Although, Turbina's camp will be in a bit more of a somber mood today. I'll be there in a bright yellow full body suit, with 2 or 3 other knuckleheads. Look for us.

What a MASSIVE victory. Short-handed Philly or not, that was impressive to score the opener, surrender a goal, and come back and take the lead for good. Plus WTF was the deal with the unimpeded pass on goal Robbie Rogers had, completely stopped by a horrible attempt at a tackle, and only a yellow.  What a joke. I think there is something to it.... Everyone's out to get Robbie.

With our guys coming back from injury, Columbus is looking to make a stretch run for the eastern conference crown. We've got a schedule that looks favorable. Toronto, Houston and DC United all at home, Chicago and New England away should all be wins. Our tough games will be at Seattle (this Saturday at 4pm), at Philly, LA at home, and at Kansas City.

With both Houston and Kansas City winning last week, both leapfrogged Philly to take over 2nd and 3rd in the east. 3 points seperate 2nd from 4th now, with Kansas City sitting 4 points back from us. KC also has 6 of their last 9 games at home, so they are confident they can take the east crown.

Can't get complacent, boys. Keep the W's coming!!

So, with James' yellow card this week, who starts in central defense next to Chad Marshall next week?

In other, albeit less important, news. The Crew reserves improved their record to 4-1-0, in Reserve League matches, by beating the Union reserves 1-0 Sunday morning.

Not only has it been a lot of fun to see the growth in the first team, and to watch a highly improbable run to the playoffs, it's also nice to see that the backups on this very young team seem to be able to hold their own in the Reserve League as well.

O'Rourke and Balchan are still on the mend/getting back into condition, but those would be the first two I would think would sub in for James for the game. Next would be moving Josh Gardner over from left back. Or Eric Gehrig.

And I agree with you. I can't believe how much these rookies and newbies are progressing and gelling with the old guard. We've gone from throwing in the towel after getting trounced the first game of the season to being in 1st place in our conference with the playoffs right around the corner.

Julius James has quickly become my favorite player on the team. He just always brings a high energy level to the game, ALWAYS brings the lock down D. All the while, he's an undersized CB. What he doesn't have in size, he makes up with pure knowledge, good placement on the pitch, and quick feet.

Crew Notes: O'Rourke closer to return, surgery for Tchani?

Injuries playing havoc with Columbus roster and rotation heading into stretch run

OBETZ, Ohio ? Danny O?Rourke has been down the road to recovery before. Probably a few too many times, in fact. So he was not about to set a timeframe for his return.
The Columbus Crew veteran midfielder/defender played 45 minutes in a reserve game Sunday against Philadelphia, but offered only a succinct assessment of his progress.
?I felt good after the game,? he said when asked several days later about his surgically repaired left knee.
He can be excused for not getting too far ahead of himself. He went under the knife in November and didn?t make an appearance until a US Open Cup match on June 28. That was followed by his season MLS debut July 2 for 21 minutes against FC Dallas.
It was decided after that game that he needed more conditioning and he disappeared from the lineup until the reserve game. His status for Saturday?s match at Seattle Sounders FC is still in question.
