I like this aggressive approach. Sure It might not work, but at least they are trying. It puts them in a better position than relying on late 1st and mid round draft picks to develop and produce quickly.

If you want better results you need to get some better players; and I agree, especially considering the Blue Jacket's draft history, the proven players they got have to better than the draft picks we gave up for them. The only downside is that the proven guys are bigger hits to the "salary cap", etc.

Also, having some core front line players that than actually stay healthy the entire year would help too.

People are gonna say the contract is too high, and it will be for next season. But the cap is going up in a big way in 2024. Gonna see a lot of short deals and some overpays. Gavrikov just re-upped with LA for $6.8 mill for 2 years, for example.

I love what the Jackets are doing. The team doesn’t need more prospects. It needs more NHL players. A late-ish first rounder, a second rounder and a third rounder for Provorov and Severson is honestly really great.

I wish they hadn’t signed Gudbranson. They have too many NHL RD now. Severson, Jiricek, Boqvist, Gudbranson, Peeke all are righties and NHL players. Someone is moving (Boqvist and/or Gudbranson hopefully).

But they still need to address the goalie like Mike said.. Elvis gets PTSD from the cannon. He’s never gonna be good here again. He thinks of his dead best friend every time the Jackets score.

We still have #3 and #34 in this draft but reading fan reactions on twitter and what not a lot continue to wine about giving up wildcard picks for established players. I'll take a guy like this for a 3rd any day.
