Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Another point in Babcock's favor, The Common Idiot and T-tard on 97.1 don't like it either. I can't think of a bigger endorsement honestly.

They also traded for a top-4 dman today. We'll see if it works but at least they aren't standing pat.

I like the Provorov deal a whole lot. Awesome move.

Babcock is a monumental asshole. And I doubt he’s changed at his age. Hopefully he teaches the team how to play better on D and doesn’t run off any of the core players…

Just sayin': Glad they didn't give up their #3 pick this year. Provorov is undoubtedly better than the guy they would get at #22. Apparently the Kings are even paying 30% of his salary:

Seems a lot of the rags are slamming us for giving up the #22 pick. I get it's a "deep draft" but knowing the CBJs draft history i'd much rather have a proven player than some wildcard late 1st round pick.

I don’t think it’s as deep as it is top heavy, personally. I’m no expert but I’ve tried to watch some prospects this year. I think Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Michkov could be #1s in other recent drafts.

I agree though regardless. CBJ would be pumped if they got a player the caliber of Provorov at 22.

And how much is that a product of the pride jersey nonsense I wonder.

The 22nd pick was what the CBJ got for Gavrikov. Provorov is better, slightly younger and has two years left on his contract.

Another NHL-level D-man.

At least you can say that Jarmo isn't sitting still. I also wonder if a trade for an experienced NHL goalie isn't in the works too. There's no way they are making these moves while thinking Elvis is the answer.

Good pickup for a 3rd rounder.

We still have #3 and #34 in this draft but reading fan reactions on twitter and what not a lot continue to wine about giving up wildcard picks for established players. I'll take a guy like this for a 3rd any day.

It's because the loud part of the CBJ fanbase is trash. They are only CBJ fans when the CBJ are good, ultimately. It's fun to poke at them on Facebook

Lol yea the Facebook and twitter comment sections are a mess for the CBJ. The SAME people who complained about Jarmo "not doing anything" are now whining that he's doing something.

I like this aggressive approach. Sure It might not work, but at least they are trying. It puts them in a better position than relying on late 1st and mid round draft picks to develop and produce quickly.
