That was a good win yesterday for the Jackets over my Wings.

Columbus really needed something like that and to get everyone healthy to head into the 2nd half with some momentum.

Outside of 4 games (against the Wings of course) I think they'll do ok.

NHL NOTEBOOK
Time to talk about draft in Columbus
Top prospects easy to list; identifying No. 1 pick is not

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

It?s that time of the year in Columbus. It?s time to start thinking about the draft. Maybe, if the locals had more than 18 victories through 48 games, it would be otherwise. But it is not. Angelo Esposito, we turn our lonely eyes to you. Or, to Alexei Cherepanov. Or, to Karl Alzmer. Or, to Jakub Voracek.

Commissioner Bettman poses with the NHL's redesigned duds -- mannequin not included.

DALLAS (AP) -- Detroit Red Wings veteran defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom certainly likes the NHL's new sleeker and streamlined uniforms.
"Especially when I heard that I'm going to be faster," the 15-year veteran and ninth-time All-Star said Monday. "That's something I need now that I'm getting older."
After more than two years of testing and designing -- and nearly 100 different versions -- the NHL and Reebok unveiled the new uniform system that will be make its debut at the NHL All-Star game this week -- and for all 30 teams next season.
It is the biggest change to NHL uniforms since the early 1960s, when synthetic fabrics replaced the old wool jerseys.

Last season, he was saddled with injuries, scoring 31 goals in 54 games. This season, Nash has been relatively healthy but has scored only 13 goals, making him a surprise participant tonight.

NHL ALL-STAR GAME WEST 12, EAST 9
Nash paces West charge
Blue Jacket has two goals, two assists in winning effort to outshine NHL?s other young stars
Thursday, January 25, 2007

NEWSDAY

DALLAS ? With young guns and league poster boys Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin, the NHL?s Eastern Conference squad had the glitz ? and supposedly the ammo.
So much for expectations: Crosby was kept pointless and Ovechkin had just one goal. The Western Conference got two goals and two assists from the Blue Jackets? Rick Nash and two goals from Martin Havlat of Chicago and lessheralded veterans Brian Rolston and Yanic Perreault to edge the East 12-9 last night in the NHL All-Star Game.

nasher named second star of the game with two goals and two helpers
briere wins mvp in losing effort with five points.

the nash was given the mvp award but on the replay in toronto jokes are hillarious if you ask me, at least at this point the handful of goals and situations that ive seen as going blatantly against the bugs are to me at this point laughable.

though i do really think the nhl missed the oppurtunity to give it to a guy who was from a nontraditional market. then again thats the thing about the nhl, the six vs the older franchises vs the perceived new non hockey markets...

dont get me wrong, im glad dan b. won it great player and in some wierd way it goes a long way in legitmizing the sabres to the traditionalists...
