Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

H Christ, what is this team's record, 3-4-70? I don't think I've ever seen this many OT and SO losses ever...

:slappy:

Actually, they are only TIED with the most ever in franchise history with 13 shootouts. They've lost 8 of those.

The site I'm looking at probably isn't up to date so maybe they've established a new franchise record with their 14th shootout, but they've still only won 5.....

BTW, Calgary has 16 so far this year and the record for most shootouts in a season is 20 :yow1:

Well, just got back from the worst game I've ever seen at Nationwide Arena. Glad I didn't pay for that shit.

I was going to get season tickets next year when I got a real job. That performance changed my mind.

They called me last week to inquire about my intentions for next season. Started trying to sell me packages of games.

I laughed at the guy and told him how hard his job must be what with how shitty this team and organization is.

He didn't disagree.

This was the final ticket of my game pack. Glad I went there in a Red Wings jersey and drank most of the game.

Oh and I got called an asshole by some pissed off fat guy for moving into an empty seat that had been empty for the entire game. Apparently it was "his buddy's seat". I just laughed at him, called him a bad liar and didn't pay attention to the rest of the abuse he spewed my way except to laugh. I guess there really are people still in Columbus who care about how bad this team is suddenly.

Essentially, as long as this team is uncertain in the goal and only has one or two true options on offense (since Umberger seems to have taken the leap this year), they are doomed to this type of season. The defense needs to be improved, but it really appeared last night that they were trying to go above and beyond their duties to the point where they were constantly out of position. That comes from not trusting the guy in the goal.

This will be an interesting off-season to watch. Howson and Arniel should have compatible philosophies so maybe the coach's system and the GM's pick-ups will actually mesh.

Hey guys, remember that one season when there was a professional hockey team in Columbus?

Me neither. :!

I remember the Owls.

In case you don't remember them: The Columbus Owls were a minor league professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League from 1973 to 1977. Prior to 1973, the team was known as the Columbus Golden Seals since 1971. After 1977 the team moved and became the Dayton Owls, and later the Grand Rapids Owls.

As a diehard Sabres fan I am going to the game tomorrow and have a few questions. With the Jackets being out of contention, will scalping be easy and what should I expect to pay for tickets? Is it worth buying more expensive tickets or can we buy the shitty ones and just move down easily? Where is the best place to park if we are trying to tailgate and will they be dicks about us drinking in the parking lot?

Greenies to anyone who can help.

I'm not sure about scalped tickets, but I doubt there will be much of a problem. If you get to the facility around 5:00 you can buy "Huntington Seats" for 10 bucks a pop. The price is right, but the seats are nose bleed. I've sat there several times, though, and the view of the game is fine (though it's on the end rather than mid ice). They won't let you move, but I know people who have been able to move anyway. Not sure of their strategy.

There is a parking garage off front street (I think it's front, maybe Neil) which I would suggest. There are other garages on the high street side of the arena district as well. Depending on whether or not the Clippers are playing too, you may also have success parking at the surface lot out in front of the arena.

Never tried drinking at a hockey tailgate, so no opinion there.

It's going to be a Sabres home game in Columbus tomorrow. Tons of Buffalo fans are making the trip.

Good. This shitty organization deserves every bit of embarassment that comes their way.

Piss poor play and piss poor front office moves (or lack of moves) and you get exactly what the CBJ are: a laughingstock.

The Predators have made the playoffs 6 of the 12 years of their existence. The CBJ have 1 in 10. Absolutely inexcusable.

Columbus fans will come in droves if you put a respectable product on the ice. They aren't stupid. This team hasn't even tried since December.
