Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

and for the record, columbus sits in fourth. (they are tied for the points lead in the west but)
* - Division leaders are seeded 1, 2, and 3 in Conference standings. If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order:

  • The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
  • The greater number of games won, excluding games won in the Shootout (NEW for 2010-11).
  • The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
  • The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.

the criticism is the circular logo (very 60/70sish) and the color is a dark shade of blue. 1-i think the idea is to have something "old school" [and in some way "create" some tradition/history] and someone tell the canadian media if the BLUE jackets wore red sweaters, then theyd be the red jackets... not great, not bad. they are dark, darker than any other team really. and youve seen the influx of navy based upon the old third jerseys (the ones with the black on the sleeves) that imo were pretty sweet stuff.

I think they'd be pretty great if there was some other color in there too. It looks a little dull. Some red accents or something. I like the jersey, it just isn't spectacular.

I don't have a problem with the circle logos. I think they look great.

i believe the goal was to go simple and old school. the unis have the union blue, the lighter steel blue, capital silver, and vintage white. the silver and navy colors are on the regular unis. the addition is the steel blue color and the off whitesh color. the steel is similar to the old school stinger jacket color, and the white is not white, its like that girl who had met boomer before her wedding white. certainly little/no pop in them, id agree. had they wanted color i think they could have gone with the stinger neon green, that would be a gimmick and a half.

had i run the world i would have made the pants the steel color to match the union them. then again who knows, maybe id have gone way more union solider looking. in my book not a homerun, and far from a strike out. a good solid, yet relatively conservative move on the orgs part.

I don't follow the offeseason or anything like that, is this start a real surprise, or did people think this team could do some work?

This is a surprise. TSN (Canada's version of espin) picked Columbus to be the worst team in hockey.

Not in the division, but the worst team in the entire league.

The squad just looks like they have come together. Last season was a BITTER disappointment for everyone involved and it looks like every single member of this team took it to heart. Remember, they made virtually NO moves last season or in the off season. This is essentially the same team that took the ice last season.

Awesome!

TSN was stupid to pick the Jackets as the worst team in hockey. I expected them to challenge for the playoffs. Didn't expect them to be this good though.

Let's go Jackets!!! Fuck the whole state of michigan...even in NHL hockey!

I am finding myself in the same area I was in 2009 when they BJs were playing the Wings in the playoffs.

I want the Wings to win, but I also want the BJs to be successful too.

In the end, if I was at this game, I would be wearing my Yzerman jersey....
