new third jersey to be unveiled in november, any concept designs or ideas of what it will look like?
personally i think it COULD look half way decent if they threw in a little powder/lighter blue in there.....
any chance this thing is unveiled in november, and debuted in the 2011 winter classic??????
personally id like to see more of an "ohio" push. thats just me. in all honesty the franchise has to reach out if they want the finances to push. columbus has become a great little hockey market (8th best olympic ratings) yet they need dayton, cincy, clev (in all honesty toledo is a lost cause...)
wc, doubtful. very very doubtful. ohio state has shown little interest in it. no doubt you could swing 105k for a wings jackets, osu um game. imo, anyway...

CBJ also got defenseman Nathan Paetsch from Buffalo. Don't know much about him, other than that he was placed on waivers and cleared earlier this season. He's 26 and a former 2nd round pick. Put up pretty good numbers offensively in his rookie season, but hasn't come close since.
Wish the Pens would've offered a 6th for Jurcina. They could use a big d-man to replace Hal Gill on the PK.
According to 97.1, the Kings and Jackets were close to a deal that would've sent Modin to LA. Not sure what the return would've been. Can't imagine that the Kings would want to take on that salary. Maybe that was the problem.
paetsch was a salary move, they needed an offset. columbus took that and their mid-late round 2nd.
jurcina is going to be out 4 weeks with a hernia surgery. pre olympic injury...
the modin paperwork got screwed up, and the deal got rammed through.. conditional pick. many teams would have taken a healthy modin. reality is the guy is a warrior who didnt miss time, hes what 35... his body is shot. period.

Mathieu Roy was traded to Florida. Not sure for what yet. The Modin deal did go through, and it was for "futures".
Love Modin, but getting rid of that salary makes me happy. Opens up room for someone else. SIGN VOLCHENKOV IN THE OFFSEASON HOWSON!!!
EDIT: Roy traded for prospect Matt Rust. Apparently he's a small, two-way center who is decent at faceoffs and probably not a top 6 player.
Modin for a conditional 7th.
roy was gone this summer. so parts and a pay dump for something that was going to walk.

It's a damn shame the Jackets aren't the one's looking to add a key piece for their playoff run. A damn shame. (so I'm not misunderstood, I realize the jackets are not in a position to be making said moves this season... I'm just suggesting that they were once pretty close, and now they're not quite as close (with respect to the beginning of next season)) Now, if I'm reading this right, it's looking like "rebuilding" is the plan.
Maybe someone more in tune has a different opinion.
fire sale? not really. honestly nothing was moved. torres probably gets ott type money (4 year 12m) based on the deals the last few months if he wants it, columbus istn going to (and probably shouldnt pay a guy like that 3m), imo. sure hes a 25 goal guy, a pp guy, yet you can realistically only afford to play the guy 13 mins a night...

The only player who will really be missed all that much is Torres, and he might re-sign here in the offseason. He's expressed interest in doing so, and he has family here. We got maximum value for an unrestricted free agent who might come back. Good deal for a team that likely won't make the playoffs.
Roy isn't really a big loss, he was between AHL and NHL duty all season. Solid for a bottom pairing/7th defenseman, but nothing major. Pretty replaceable.
Jurcina was surprisingly solid, but also pretty replaceable IMO.
Modin was a salary dump. He's been effective, but he's worth more to us not on the team because he made too much for how little he played. I'm thinking he made like $4M a year, which is outrageous considering he's played about 7 games in what seems like 17 years for the Jackets.
Nothing too surprising really.
agreed with everything but "max value" probably could have moved a few pieces differently and gotten a little more. then again how much help do you really want to be in your conference/division? underwhelming decent day, not great, not spectacular but about what the market provided.

Alex Picard got traded to Phoenix for Chad Kolarik.
A previous first round pick for a previous seventh round pick. That is [censored]ing awful. Not so much current value-wise, but the fact that we drafted a first rounder who currently has the value of a seventh rounder is baaaaaad.
someone tell me why i saw that name and was like WTF? greenies to that person...
pic was gone at the end of the year. he was going to walk via rfa.

God help me, but I agree with Numby.
A bunch of moves, but nothing of serious worth leaving. The young, talented nucleus is intact. If they could have off-loaded Commodore, deadline day would have been a bigtime win for the CBJ.
you really think they could have? next year will be interesting with commie, hes never, never been healthy this year. not since training camp.

I hope that was done in your best Scott Torgerson voice. Picard, now is one step away from workin the night shift at the Citco. I find it odd we sent Jurcina back to Washington for a 6th round pick. Modin just being off the books will save the club a little over 1 million this season. Getting a second round pick and a player for Torres is about the max you could expect. All in all, solid moves.
you really think pic is close to working at citgo? he had 22 goals last year in cuse and what 17 so far this year? hes probably closer to the third line somewhere than that... it appears hell be a career depth guy at this point, bouncing between the a and the nhl...
