no such thing as a fluke goal in hockey, none. as jurcina...
NUTS4theBUCKS28;1658436; said:wow, i want to say that mason, brass and jake werent playing to their potential just because of hitch, and that hitch was the reason the young kids werent playing well. but i cant exactly say that. im not sure why the three decide to turn on the jets the last 3 games, but it sure is nice to see the whole team play this way. brass gets the hard hat tonight
teams typically react with wins (or totally quit) after a change. the reason many thought a change was in order in nov.

I was amazed at just how dominating a physical presence Thorton is out there... my god, he's big. Shelley too, which I never really noticed when he was with the CBJ. Russell looked like a 10 year old when he was near either of them, lol.
did you take bkbjr again?
throton is huge, him and nash in davos and wc have been dominate. throton is big and huge and can posses the puck as good or better than anyone since 99 would walk around with it. the problem is when playoff season starts that style is more suited for euro pansy hockey than for a cup run... then again big joe actually performs much better than people think in the playoffs...
mason has been on the upswing the last month. put bluntly, he was not in proper condition. further he was overreacting to the game. when hes at his best hes got a nice arc, hes deliberate (almost slow-yet not quick).
further when are they going to fix the damn glass. playing anything beyond the goals is difficult enough, with the shit glass they have that leads to so many weird bounces its not easier...
Anyway, it looked to me like they were feathering more shots at the net than they did under Hitch, I noticed a lot more carrying the puck into the zone instead of dumping in to the corner, and I also noticed the defensemen were allowed to play below the blue line. If that's an indication of a style change (someone more versed in the particulars of Hockey would know better than I)... well.. the results indicate this team is built for that style of play.
more pressure sure. more pinching, sure. more carrying the puck, sure. not revolutionary stuff, yet an evo towards a more offensively aggressive style. ironically, before hitch was woody hayes, his teams resembled the run and gun teams youd associate with (mike leach?)
I don't think the Sharks played particularly poorly, from my seats it looked like the Jackets just beat em with good shot selection and by out hitting and outhustling.
