i cant say enough about how improved the powerplay is this season...but what is killing us is the inability to play tight and disciplined.
it just seems like when we are shorthanded that the defensmen chase the puck way too much and let the man infront of the net harass mason or garon constantly. i play hockey and i know what kind of pk the jackets use. you arent supposed to chase the puck or let the man infront stay put there. also when they skate it into the zone, they try to be too fancy (brass, jake and maybe nash), and they end up turning the puck over. i really like what im seeing from juice and vermette, they are putting pucks on net and making good decisions.
we play too soft now and we need to get back to hitchcocks way of hockey with hard forchecking and tough defensemen who claim their part of the ice and play the body along with punishing the opposition for carrying the puck.
im just not seeing this anymore. hitch needs to put dueces and hejda back together along with russell and methot, then rusty with stralman/tyutin. tyutins been taking bad penalties and turns the puck over way too much

What they need is a swift kick in the ass and another decent player or three.

I hope Hitch doesn't start trying to micro-manage this team. That's what got him canned in Philly IIRC.

Definitely a great period...need to shore it up in the 3rd. One thing I can say about the Jackets...on any given night, they can give a Nordegren skull-bashing to any team. Just need to be more consistent.
