you have to keep in mind that they know that nash wants to stay here. they are going to try and get the best deal for the club. if i was the GM i would try to wrap up a 10 year deal. if it's 5 or less and cbj doesn't compete for a cup years down the road he could bolt for another team to try and get a cup.

His agent has been quoted in saying that Nash is looking for a 5 year deal so that he can be a free agent again when he is 29 and in the prime of his career. I would love for Howson to try and get Nash signed for 7 or 8 years also so I won't have to go through this saga again so soon.

I don't know too much about Pahlsson. How's his offensive game? I've read that it was a bit of an overpayment by the Jackets, but a very good fit in Hitch's system.

7.8 million cap hit. Big hit, but it's Rick Nash. Hope Brassard can stay healthy for a whole season so there's a legit playmaking center playing with him. Love(d) Manny, but he shouldn't have been Nash's center.

I wouldn't mind seeing Vermette get a chance on the first line. He may not be a flashy player, but he gets the job done. He seems to see the ice well.

The Captain made a statement about his feelings for Columbus with this contract. He took less money to stay now management has to do everything in their power to put a Stanley Cup contending team around him.

If they weren't all leftys, I would try Nash-Vermette-Umberger as the top line. Power on one wing, speed on the other, and an unselfish centreman. Those are our best three offensive players, IMO.
