Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

As I just posted in another thread, San Jose needs 5 players and needs to do it with less than $350,000 in cap space left.

Columbus should put a package together to get Jumbo Joe. Sure he sucks in the playoffs, but with him setting up Nash, Nash could score 80 friggin goals.

Hypothetically - what do you think it would take to get Thornton? Filatov + first + bottom 6 player?

I don't know my trade values very well. Wild guess on my part. :tongue2:

Probably. Maybe not even that much if the sharks are really up against the cap.

And Columbus could pull one of their better D-men too maybe.

Not sure if I'd rather see them get a puck-moving d-man or a good center for Nash. I think Brassard can be the guy if he can stay healthy, but the addition of Thornton would be insane.

They really need a puck mover.

There are rumors that Jack Johnson is being shopped.. it would probably take a lot for him, but he has loads of potential..

If that's the case, then why dick around and only give him a 5 year offer ? There should be no dancing there: He's a Jacket and needs to stay that way, so why not just give him 7/10/12 yrs, rather than [censored]ing him off with a 5 year offer?

It wasn't the length of the contract he is mad about. It was the amount of the offer. I think Howson tried to get him on the cheap and he isn't having any of that. That is what I gather from what I have read.

nash want "mad" lets put it this way he has now signed 3 pro contracts, one took 11 hours, the 20some million dollar deal took 42 hours and this one took what? three days for 60m+

ill be frank, nash didnt want to drag this out. he knew what button to push. do you blame howson for offering a lower contract value to start at? not low enough to really tick him off.

He isn't even a FA yet so how can he be considered the biggest UFA ever
in hockey ?

simple, he would have been. trust me.

I don't know too much about Pahlsson. How's his offensive game? I've read that it was a bit of an overpayment by the Jackets, but a very good fit in Hitch's system.

non existent. shut down 3 third checking (check is the key word) something hitch loves.

what do you tell you about espn and hockey?

7.8 million cap hit. Big hit, but it's Rick Nash. Hope Brassard can stay healthy for a whole season so there's a legit playmaking center playing with him. Love(d) Manny, but he shouldn't have been Nash's center.
not really, its a small increase over his last year of his old contract then 100k raise a year. big number but would have fetched more in the open market. high but reasonable.

If they weren't all leftys, I would try Nash-Vermette-Umberger as the top line. Power on one wing, speed on the other, and an unselfish centreman. Those are our best three offensive players, IMO.
brass was about a ppg player pre injury. he should have a very nice season if he stays healthy.

This doesn't seem fair/equitable at all: Mathieu Garon making $1.2 M and Steve Mason making $903K each of the next two years.

Yeah, I know Garon has been in the league 8 years and Mason was a rookie last year; but it still isn't in proportion to their value to the team. :tongue2:
dont complain about that too much... mase will be ma$e soon enough. he will have his rfa/ufa contracts that will make him a rich man.

Chimera On The Block? (Puck-rakers).
To that end, The Dispatch has learned that earlier this summer Howson offered left winger Jason Chimera to San Jose for defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, but Sharks GM Doug Wilson declined.

nothing you guys generally didnt hear here. glut of wingers, it seems likely that one will be shipped off for a guy who can hopefully run the point. (id also like to see howson toss something towards the canes and see what anton babchuk[rfa dman who cant agree with terms with the canes] would take to get off their hands.)

cap numbers are essentially irrelevant to cbj, the number to look at is actual payroll.
erhoff is a 3.1m cap hit but his actually payroll is 3.14 and 3.4.

Schedules have been released. Columbus Blue Jackets Schedule - NHL Hockey - ESPN

When do the Jackets open? Same fucking day/time as OSU @ Indiana. :shake:

Well its not like there is a lot of drama building up to IU week. Stay in C-bus and go see the Jackets.

My question is which stadium will have more people from Columbus in it that day, Nationwide or IU's place?
