Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

that's part of being a Wings fan I guess.

There's something to be said about expecting to win a game from a player standpoint without being arrogant or taking the team lightly. When the CBJ develop this attitude full time (and they have shown signs like when they played against the Wings in the 8-2 game or against Chicago and Boston) they will really take the next step.

yea

im not really expecting much in the playoffs (if they make it) this year, maybe take a first round series depending on who they draw

next year I think they might be ready to make a serious run though, especially if Brassard can manage to stay healthy all season

Brassard, Vorachek will have another year in the league, Filatov should be ready for the NHL as well.

Nash will be in a contract year, Mason will be used to the grind and you have vermette ready to go.

They should also keep Jason Williams. I don't know if he is an FA or not, but they should keep him around if they can.

BTW the talk of Brassard coming back this year is stupid. Let him heal without any pressure of playing in the playoffs.

yea I agree about bringing Brassard back, throwing a guy into the mix in the playoffs when he hasent played in quite a while is not a great idea

im not sure about Jason Williams contract, I tried googling it but couldnt find anything

I love Vermette though, the guy has been nothing but awsome since he came over to us, Filatov showed some flashes of scoring ability in the games he played with the jackets, excited to see what he can do in a full season at the NHL level

A MUST win game tomorrow against an inferior Eastern Conference team.

Edmonton and St. Louis won while the Wild lost.

After that, the next game is in Tampa which they also HAVE TO win.

Look at it this way.....

Right now St. Louis is on the outside looking in at 75 points with 10 games remaining. They can top out at 95 points if they win every game.

Columbus has a game in hand and has 80 points.

Columbus is actually kinda close to clinching a spot. St. Louis has a rough patch coming up.

STL:

LA Kings
Vancouver
Columbus
@Columbus
@Chicago
@Detroit
@Dallas
@Phoenix
Columbus
@Chicago

They STL need every single game to be a win to get to 95. The only team they have winning records against in that stretch are Dallas and Columbus (I think, it's too late to go through the entire schedule)....

Put it this way, Columbus sweeps that back to back against STL they are more or less in the playoffs at that point. St. Louis won't be able to catch them.
im saying 6-5. thats the "goal" at this point. that should put them safely in.

not sure id call the Panthers "inferior"

they have 80 points as well and are 1 point out of the playoffs in the east, so they need it just as much as the CBJ
se div team, se is weak. they are a good team but nothing special.

I am still of the opinion that if the CBJ were in the East, and especially the SouthEast division, they would have nearly 100 points and be the 2 seed in the east right now.

Florida isn't there yet. Their year to make noise was supposed to be next season. Vokoun is a very underrated goalie so it's on Columbus to make sure he doesn't steal a game.
the east is light except for boston, nj and philly are all light. they dont play heavy games and teams like to get up and down.
or to not tick off the eastern conference fans they game has more end to end flow.

they have to check to win. win they check they are tough to play against, when they dont, well they usually lose.

Still 1-0 Panthers, 12:14 3rd Period.

Update- 9:49 remains. Still 1-0. Blue Jackets are getting abused by Florida. Panthers are dominating play, but Mason is keeping CBJ in the game. Let's go!

Update 2- 5:37, Jackets picking things up, but still no goal.

Update 3- Okay, Vokoun (FLA) is just standing on his head now. Jackets are close, but not looking like their night. Under 3.

3/29 STL

82 pts
10 games remaining
