Phoenix putting it on Vancouver 5-0 15 minutes left in the 3rd. :)
There was a pretty crazy goal in that game they showed on Sportscenter. A penalty was called and on the delay, Vancouver pulled their goalie, the puck got bounced around and the guy who was due to head to the sin bin ended up getting a goal..then headed to the box on the stoppage of play.

Wow. That explains it.

I was watching the box score and saw empty net goal mid way through the 2nd period. I thought it was just a typo.

I was looking forward to a 4/5 matchup with the Blackhawks awhile back, but it appears now that the matchup may happen as a 3v6 instead. Chicago is right on Calgary's heel and I don't see the Jackets moving out of that 6 spot.

I think those teams will draw a lot of interest (midwest) and will be good for Columbus (both the city and matchup-wise for the team).

Actually it wouldn't shock me to see Columbus and/or Vancouver overtake Calgary. If Kiprusoff can't keep them in the game, Calgary doesn't play the defense necessary to get the job done down the stretch.

they'll make the playoffs, but they won't be the 3 seed.

Chicago just got Patrick Sharp back. That significantly helps them.

I thought that the division leaders were the automatic top 3 seeds. If that's still true, then CHI could not go higher than 4, unless they overtook DET (which would put them #1 or 2), but that ain't gonna happen. VAN still has a chance to leapfrog CGY, but a CBJ/CHI matchup would have to be a 4/5. Perhaps they changed the rule.

There is a slight chance we could pass Chicago, we play them twice, and they have a tougher schedule than we do. San Jose, Vancouver, and Detroit twice (although it is the last two of the year and may not matter to Detroit)

what I am saying is Vancouver could very easily pass Calgary (same division) and if the CBJ continue to play well and Calgary poorly, Columbus could pass them too (along with Chicago probably)....

No one is touching Detroit in the division and San Jose has already locked theirs up. I think Detroit clinches tonight with a win but I'm not 100% sure. (NOPE Detroit will need one more win or another chicago loss)....

I was more responding to a post above yours that made it sound like we could see a 3/6 CHI/CBJ matchup, which I don't think is possible. CGY looks very vulnerable right now, but I believe VAN is the only team that can bump them from the #3 seed. I'd like to see a CHI/CBJ 1st round, because the travel would be much easier (for teams and fans), and it would probably give us the best chance to advance.
