Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Question is do you mortgage that much of the future for nothing more than a 1st round exit vs SJS or DET? Or, are they really just 1 player away from something more than a 7-8 seed? Can waiting a year for Brassard to come back give you the center you need and still keep the other young talent? I am seriously asking, I have no idea.

Trading a player like Filatov just to make the playoffs (well maybe) as a 7/8 seed and have a first round exit is not a smart move

It sure doesn't seem like one to me but I defer to those who know the NHL better.

Brassard going down really hurt...

unless they can pull off a trade for a legit center, I dont see them being able to get over the hump

id rather not trade a player like Filatov just to maybe make the playoffs as a 7/8 seed and have a first round exit though

Spezza wouldn't be a rental, he has a couple years left on his contract so Filatov could develop at his own pace instead of being rushed to the big club.

Actually the CBJ were as high as 5th about a week ago. The difference between the 5 seed and the 8 seed is 3 points.

and something is telling me this year that the top of the west is going to be vulnerable in the early rounds.

I thought Filatov would be one that had to go the other direction to get Spezza.

The way Detroit is playing defense right now and the fact that everyone is kind of waiting to see if SJS can do it in the palyoffs I can see your point. I still wouldn't feel real good about our chances as a 7-8 seed but there is always a chance I guess.

Manny Legace placed on waivers by St. Louis.

I think Columbus needs to seriously think about picking him up.

EDIT Still only 2 points out of the 8th spot, but I don't like the direction the team seems to be heading in right now.

I guess it all depends on how desperate Ottawa is.....

But yes, I screwed that one up. I meant Brassard :!

Look at the 2006 playoffs. All of the lower seeds won in the West. This year looks very similar to me or some reason....

This just in, Joe Thornton is still a pussy.

That is all.

The one thing I have figured out about the CBJ's is that they do the opposite of everything.

Backup to the backup to the assistant backup goalie, half the team hurt or with the flu and the freakin Sharks looking to avoid a 3 game losing streak?

No problem. 2-0 end of 1.

These guys are just nuckin futs enough to not know any better I guess.

The Blue Jackets - the cradle of young goalies?!?!

Just when I was about to make a post asking if Jan Hjeda was sick because he had a horrific game until late in the 3rd and then again in the OT. I guess it doesn't matter now.

The lackluster play against the Blues and Pens might be explained a bit by the entire team being sick.
