Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Going to the Jackets/Red Wings game on the 13th. I will be sporting my Red Wings jersey, how rowdy is the fanbase? Keep in mind that I am a respectful fan that doesn't trash talk (and actually will root for Nash to score since he's on my fantasy team.)

:shake:

teasing columbus is loaded with wings and pens fans. you might get some ribbing but its usually not much more than that. with the close proximity to those clubs and the franchise less than 10 years old you wont be nearly alone. id expect 5k or more "wings" fans. you actually see guys who are cbj fans all year break out their wings sweaters for the games... their is also always a strong base for sabres fans driven by the ne part of the state.

make it 3-0

the jacket defenders are leaving Dubie out to dry.

San Jose is gonna kill them tomorrow too unfortunately :(

yeah, nothing like being the lucky bastards that get to play SJS after they have lost 2 in a row. :(

I guess the only positive is that none of the WC bubble teams are exactly pulling away right now.

for now, but losing to the Blues isn't a point in the Jacket's favor....most of the WC bubble teams will beat the Blues.

Unfortunately for the East teams, this is about as good as Pittsburgh has looked in a while.

This is the hardest stretch of the Jackets schedule but they aren't really bearing up well....

I give the Blues more credit than you do for the way they have played the last month or so but other than that I agree. Worst time in the world for Mason to get mono/come back down to earth.

Speaking of the Blues I see they waived Legace.

Legace should have been a career backup. He was originally the guy to get the Wings from Vernon and Osgood and Hasek to Jimmy Howard, but Howard hasn't quite panned out. Instead they've gone through CuJo and Hasek and Osgood again.....

Sure the Blues are playing better, but that was a game they HAD TO have, just like the game against the Wings was, and they even had the lead but failed to drop the hammer. That was their last truly easy game for two weeks.

Agree they really needed that one. I just think it was more bad luck than anything catching StL right when they were playing their best hockey of the year.

I mean when they go in and beat Boston the way they did (fucking miracle of miracles) then follow it up with Chicago and Detroit you can't really say they were an easy W that got away. The Blues are on a dead cat bounce, theyare just going to win a certain amount of games because of the laws of mathmatics. The Jackets just got them at the wrong time.

All that said, there is hope in the fact that the rest of the WC bubble teams are spitting the bit right along with the Jackets. Not much but at least its something. They better start doing something soon or it will be over quick.

The Pens needed this one with the Wings coming to town, Sunday. Thanks go out to C-bus for saving Mason for tomorrow night. :)

Okay, pretend you are [Columbus GM] Scott Howson. You make one move prior to the deadline. What's it going to be?
-- Aaron, Ohio

A legitimate center for Rick Nash. As well as he's performed at times, Nash may be the player who offers less of his full potential than anyone in the league. That's not a knock on his effort (although it's been called into question in the past) as much as it is the team's inability to match him with a player who can optimize his considerable skills.

Most teams putting out the shingle prior to March 4 aren't exactly overstocked with that type of player, but there's one clear possibility. If Ottawa decides to break up the Big Three as part of its plan to move forward, the Jackets should set their sights on Jason Spezza. For all the nitpicking he faces at home, he is a sublime passer and ideally suited to getting Nash over the hump.

Of course, if you want a young, talented, signed player like Spezza, you're not going to find him in the 50-percent-off bin. The Sens will want a significant piece for their rebuild, and their asking price likely would start with Nikita Filatov and Cody Goloubef and go from there. Considering how desperate the Jackets are to join the postseason party for the first time, though, it's a deal worth pursuing.

Ten best Canadian junior NHL prospects - Allan Muir - SI.com

I've emailed with Allan in the past and he was the first guy nationally saying the Wings were the team to beat last year....

Interesting concept and I think it's pretty likely that Ottawa is going to break up soon.

Brassard going down really hurt...

unless they can pull off a trade for a legit center, I dont see them being able to get over the hump

id rather not trade a player like Filatov just to maybe make the playoffs as a 7/8 seed and have a first round exit though
