Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

The Jackets are very lucky teams in contention for the 7th and 8th playoff spots aren't good enough to pull away.

They lost a game the other night against Phoenix they played well enough to win, but everyone else lost. Phoenix turns around and loses a game they played much better than Detroit in and the CBJ came out a bit flat against Nashville and lost 4-2, but Vancouver couldn't beat Tampa (which is pathetic), so they are still withina point of being in 7th.....

Should be a fun ride. But the CBJ need to make waves now while they can.

Curtis Glencross, slipping a puck past the Wild's Niklas Backstrom, had six goals and six assists in 36 games for the Jackets.

The Blue Jackets hope they addressed two glaring needs yesterday with the acquisition of defenseman Dick Tarnstrom from the Edmonton Oilers.
To get Tarnstrom, a 33-year-old puck-mover with a deft touch on the power-play point, the Blue Jackets sent left winger Curtis Glencross to the Oilers.

Blue Jackets defenseman Jan Hejda goes low for a check on the Wild's Mikko Koivu in the second period.

The Blue Jackets aren't particularly strong in any zone these days.

They aren't winning along the boards or in front of their net. But it's the space between their collective ears that is starting to worry some players.
"We are mentally fragile right now," said defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen after the Blue Jackets lost 4-1 to the Minnesota Wild last night in Nationwide Arena.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Even when the Rick and Nik Show is in full gear, the Blue Jackets have little margin for error.
But in the three games since the All-Star break, left winger Rick Nash and right winger Nikolai Zherdev have been no-shows, and the Blue Jackets have gotten smoked.
The latest example came Saturday, when the Blue Jackets lost 4-1 to the Minnesota Wild in front of a sold-out crowd in Nationwide Arena.
