ALABAMA: 39 (16 BCS, 39 CFP)

OKLAHOMA: 20 (BCS)

OHIO STATE: 18 (15 BCS, 3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF)

Despite losing in the national championship against Alabama, Ohio State is the winningest program in college football since the turn of the century. No Urban Meyer, no problem for the Buckeyes in 2019 after they went 13-1, finishing one conversion short of a title-game berth. Coach Ryan Day was flawless in his first campaign, leading an unbeaten regular season and two Heisman finalists into the Playoff.

USC: 15 (BCS)

LSU: 13 (10 BCS, THREE CFP)

CLEMSON: 8 (COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF)

MISSISSIPPI STATE: 3 (COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF)....

"I think that if you win the Big Ten Conference, you should get into the playoffs."

Just sayin': I agree 100% and the same would be true for the SEC, ACC, PAC-12, and (current) Big XII.

I'm for a 6 team CFP with the Power 5 winners and the best non Power 5 school as the 6th team. The CFP Committee selects the 6th team and seeds the participants. The #1 and #2 teams get a bye and the #3 and #4 teams get a home game against #6 and #5 teams.

I could go for that, except that I don't like that the 5 conferences would be written into the rules as being better than the other 5. We all know that they're better, but the rules shouldn't be written to say that they're better. Just say, "The 6 highest-ranked conference winners", and 9 times out of 10 we'll see those 5 conferences getting in. And that 10th year - if UCF and Tulsa finish above the ACC champion, then the ACC champion doesn't belong in the playoff, anyway.

Also, maybe the teams should be ranked at least 10th or 12th. I don't care if you won the Pac-12, you had 4 losses and finished 15th. Why should you have a chance to win the national championship? If there aren't 6 conference champions, give the additional spot(s) to at-large teams.

Will Texas, Oklahoma really move to the SEC? We answer the biggest questions

How will this affect expansion of the College Football Playoff?

It is yet to be seen, but if OU and Texas join the SEC, it's not unreasonable to think the SEC could get seven teams in a proposed 12-team field, including both of their newest members, even if they were to finish 10-2 or 9-3. That potential scenario could diminish support for the 12-team proposal during a summer that is being used to solicit coast-to-coast feedback on expansion from university presidents, athletic directors, coaches, conference commissioners and players.

One source involved in the discussions said they didn't think the OU-Texas news would impact the timing of a decision on whether to move forward with accepting the 12-team format. The CFP management committee, which includes the 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick, are expected to meet in late September with the 11 FBS presidents and chancellors who control the playoff to discuss the findings of their feasibility study.

CFP executive director Bill Hancock was not immediately available for comment when contacted by ESPN on Monday.

Just sayin': UT and OU to the SEC could put the screws to a 12 team playoff...

Piss off, Gene. This is Gene --who's spent a lifetime going to bowl junkets, being taken on Winter cruises by them--attempting to look out for the bowls at the expense of Ohio State and the other B1G schools. Nobody is going to die in a December game in Columbus or Madison any more than they do in Chicago or Green Bay. Fuck, GS and fuck the bowls.

“One of those tracks is something no administrator has mentioned publicly. Texas and Oklahoma moving to the SEC changes not only college athletics but the entire college sports business model. In devastating the Big 12 to the point it has lost 50% to 75% of its value, the SEC enhanced its power, leverage and earning potential to the point some college leaders fear the conference could earn six of the 12 available playoff spots in the proposed expansion.

“‘With 12 teams, we could just be watching a lot of SEC teams in the 12-team playoff,’ a highly-placed Power Five source told CBS Sports.

“One Power Five AD added: ‘Why on God's green Earth would the Pac-12 and Big Ten hand over these [playoff] rights, which only strengthens the SEC?’”

“CFP stakeholders across the country believe that the SEC's realignment maneuvering will likely delay the implementation of an expanded Playoff,” Auerbach wrote in a tweet, adding that a source said it “creates some concern”about the way the 12-team proposal was constructed.

Yup.

"Fuck me? No, fuck you" is the street level version of what the rest of CFB is saying to SEC/ESPN right now. 'Nice dick power move except you forgot one little thing..."

For fuck's sake, the B1G and the PAC need to take this shit seriously. The SEC doesn't give a shit about anything other than their precious Foosball. They literally say it all the time, "it just means more!" When someone repeatedly tells you what and who they are? BELIEVE THEM! Now, I'm not saying we become them. By no means do I want to emulate the SEC. I am saying that we need to recognize what we're dealing with, and that's a collection of alleged universities that have more rooster fighting programs than AAU members. We need to act proactively and forcefully to protect our academic-athletic balance in a way that we can still compete, but on our terms...not theirs.

And Gene Smith worrying about the fucking bowls is like the French building the Maginot Line.

So, you're basically giving ND a slot every year. No thanks.

“I think the pause button should be hit,” Smith said. “We need to evaluate the landscape and what it’s going to look like. We still need to evaluate the 12-team playoff. We don’t need to rush into that when there’s legitimate concerns that need to be addressed.”

Nice to know Gene is smart enough to take leadership on this. It seems to me that someone else, perhaps at the conference level, should have already made a similar statement. Nice to know that Gene is willing to cover for things that others have missed
