I think the big item will be how the teams are selected. Just wait until this is done to bury Delaney. If it is a modified BCS rankings taking the Top 4, then Delaney failed miserably. But what if a selection committee is used and their marching orders are to reward conference champions when it is merited in taking the "Best 4 teams" that has a WIDE definition in Delaney's eyes.

Plus I view a championship game bid out as a win for Delaney. You know Indianapolis will host the game every few years.

I think that it's a bit too soon to bury Delaney and agree with Piney.

It's interesting to see the contrast between Delaney and Slive. Neither went to school in the conference that they represent. Both are lawyers, with Slive having more private firm experience and Delaney working for the government.

Both have different temperments as well. Slive does comment to the press but is often very understated and reserved while Delaney is very, very public with his comments/thoughts.

In one breath, that hillbilly author admits to marrying a Big Ten alum. In the next, he attempts to poke fun at Big Ten fans by saying that we wish our "girls were better looking." Perfect example of an author from the south, IMO.

I can't believe I missed this the first time through. HAHAHA!

I assume you are talking about the $EC writer from the link and not me.

LOL Yes.

That of course doesn't rule out the possibility of you being short sighted and easily influenced. :p

That and the hundreds of thousands of jobs pouring in from the rust belt.

The current demographic shift has implications far beyond the simple "THE SOUTH IS GROWING THE NORTH IS DYING!"

Leaving alone the short term vs long term trend fallacy there is a very real possibility that having large numbers of fans of northern schools (who produce alums at a much greater rate than those in the SEC) is not really the best thing in the long term for SEC viewership.

Eventually ya'll are just going to get bred out of existence.

True

Seriously though the long term outlook if the shift continues isn't as rosy for the SEC as some want to believe. The real reason why adding A&M & Misery is a long term boost for the conference is that they're both big schools with high enrollments.

Not necessarily. People who think OSU has a problem with t-shirt alumni need to venture south.

Or not. Just take my word for it.

I hear ya. I don't think I have met a Hurricane fan down here that is an actual, bonafide alum of the university.
