If the SEC wasn't scared to travel outside their home region, they'd [censored]ing do it.

We view it more as "needing to do that to win the BCSNC." Having the best football conference sort of immunizes us from the tenuous logic that "the SEC needs to play more OOC games!!" - at least for those embracing a theory that requires SEC OOC game results as an essential metric to validate our conference strength. The Boise States of the world need to do that.

We don't.

There are enough BCS games under our collective conference belts to have settled that issue definitively.

I'd like to see it as a fan. But we don't need to do it for any reason save fan enjoyment.

How many of those BCS games were in your back yard versus having to travel extensive distances for them like, oh I don't know, Ohio State has to?

Hasn't seemed to help the ACC all that much.

And excepting the early 90s, every damn time Florida has won the SECCG it has done so in a stadium smack dab in Leg Humper country. Before that, we played "neutral" games against Alabama in - - - Birmingham. Just win the F'in games. That's ultimately how you do it. Whining about home field advantage for Bama, or whining about having to go to Georgia to play the SECCG was not the answer. Win your game. End of story.

You don't see the advantage having a home game whenever you play out of conference?

If all of the school presidents/chancellors acted in their own self-interest, they'd vote against the top-4 thing and vote for conference champions only. Why allow your #5 conference champion's slot to be taken by a second SEC team?

Part of the problem is the independent teams that aren't in a conference. To hell with them, and to hell with the SEC and ESPN's agenda. Vote for the top-4 conference champions only. Force Notre Dame to join a conference if they want a shot at the NC game.

Then it becomes a de facto 8-game playoff starting with the CCGs in early December, and every team has to win their division to have a spot. And the SEC gets only 1 team and money for only 1 team.

There are only 12 of them, plus Notre Dame. Vote against what they want, and do what's best for your own school and conference.

You might feel differently if your team lost 4 National Titles in the 1970s by playing a California team in the Rose Bowl each time. :wink2:

The Big Ten schools are only trying to get an equal chance of playing on a home and/or neutral field as the warm-weather teams. If that makes you occasionally have to wear a jacket to see a title game, too frickin' bad.

The reason they want to vote for the top 4 is cause they are all greedy bastards and they think if the SEC can do it so can their conference. Yeah that's nice but the realistic shot of it happening is low. So best to make it 4 different conferences then risk getting left out.

Well sure...that horseshit excuse works for the last decade at best. Now explain why they didn't do it for the hundred years prior.

You had to travel all the way to Georgia and Alabama from Florida!?

I disagree. You lost by 13, 1, and 10 and 25. You also won one by 21. The normal spread for home field advantage is between 3 and 7. Looks like only one of five contests could be reasonably argued to have been affected.

Robo dropping that endzone pass in '08 in the Dome had zip squat nada to do with geography. Sometimes you gotta make a play, and if you don't you lose the momentum - and maybe the game. No matter where it is played.

Gimme a freakin' break.
We had this conversation earlier with the B1G being insistent and keeping it's Rose Bowl Tradition in a playoff.

Adams?s comments came after several playoff formats under consideration by BCS leaders were reported this week by USA Today. Among them was an unusual plan that would expand the semifinals to three games to preserve the Rose Bowl?s historical Big Ten-Pac-12 matchup.

You cannot bitch and moan about what a challenge it was to fly to warm weather and play teams from warm weather and then have the highest levels of management of your league demand to keep those very same games.

Games were still in SEC country. Point is that no SEC teams care to venture outside their part of the country to venues at, say, Madison, or Columbus, or Ann Arbor...with the exeption of Alabama playing at Penn State this past season as the "away" game of their "home/away" series.

Honestly, Fuck where this is going. Essentially, the SEC is going to get everything it wants: no cold weather games and two SEC teams in every year.

I'll say it again, Fuck this. I don't want a playoff that bad.

Since when did we let these glorified community colleges dictate a god damned thing? Retards sit in the back of the short bus; you don't hand them the fucking keys.

Here is the main crux. Games don't count unless they are in the snow.

Georgia travels to ASU or OKSU - Fuck you doesn't count too warm
LSU travels to ASU or Washington - Fuck you doesn't count too warm
Alabama plays Oklahoma - Fuck you doesn't count too warm
Auburn plays WVU and Clemson - Fuck you doesn't count too warm
Arkasas plays Texas and USC (and gets CRUSHED) - Fuck you doesn't count too warm
UT loses to Cal and UCLA in Cali - Fuck you doesn't count too warm.

Get off it. The best teams in our league can and do travel

Sure we fucking can. That's like saying you can't bitch about a having to jump thru hoops for a Catholic wedding and still be Catholic. Just because I think it's horseshit doesn't mean Jim Delaney gives two UGAmcllxcll shits what I think.
