College Football Playoff (2016-2017 Season)

I hear ya. I'm just a tad more pessimistic on the issue.... If Ohio State ends up 4, I guess I'll have to rethink the "follow the money" idea ... or at least dial it back when it comes to the committee.
I think the committee has had a reset after last years blow outs. TOSU is a mortal lock and if they can sneak scUM in they will.

Regardless of the what the razor-thin comment was specifically referencing, he did state that the "tie breaker" stuff is used as more-or-less as last resort. If they feel an 10-2 Michigan team is better than an 11-2 Wisconsin team (and they are in all facets except in having the B1G title), then they'll keep Michigan ahead of Wisconsin.

I thought I remember reading or hearing some comment from the CFP about an emphasis on wins. If so, I wonder if the obvious 11 > 10 thing might move Wisky ahead of tsun? Who knows.

I do think they may take into account the absolute ass like nature of tsun play the last 3 games of their schedule. Perhaps this is the week they make them pay for the bad loss to Iowa?

It will interesting as hell if VT and or UW lose, that I am sure of.

I ALMOST want to sign up on one of these sites just to post this video. Almost.

Don't bother... as a Pedster colleague told me, there was an offensive holding and an offensive hands to the face that also weren't called on the play. lol.

Meh. It's not even so much that as the fact that those other sites aren't very tolerant of differing opinions. Heh - or even people from other fanbases who SHARE their opinions. I know somewhere I saw a fan from another team post how it was a great game - Penn State is better than they get credit for - crybaby bullshit like that. Everyone else told him to quit trolling their board and to go back to his board. Rutgers, maybe? Maryland? I forget. So I guess it isn't a very strong way that I'm laughing at BWI. Anyway, they'll just delete your post or thread if you post that video.

If either Clemson or Washington loses, it'll be scUM, and not Wiscy, who gets the #4 slot:

1. Wiscy lost to Ohio State at home in 1 OT, whereas scUM lost to Ohio State on the road in 2 OT.
2. Wiscy lost the head-to-head with scUM
3. Unless Wiscy beats the Pedsters by 39 points, their win over them won't be as good as scUM's win over them

The committee has emphasized that the head-to-head and conference title factors are consider when the two teams are really close in rankings, or as the current committee head said this week, a "razor-thin margin" between the teams.

I think if either Clemson or Washington lose it'll be between the following teams in contention (in no particular order):

Wisconsin/PSU (Wisconsin being a stronger choice)
Colorado
Clemson (if it's a close loss)
scUM

All of those teams will have 2 losses at that point. Colorado & Wisconsin/PSU would be Conference champs. The committee seems to love Clemson & scUM.

I really hope they don't put scUM in. Not just because I hate them. If we were, at any point in the Playoff to play scUM again, it'd take away some of the significance of 'The Game'. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but it's like a holiday. The build-up is part of what makes the rivalry great.

I think, and Mili can answer for himself, that's all he was saying when he said "last resort" - it doesn't come into play unless teams are otherwise equal/comparable. Now, even there, maybe the committee defers to the "eye test" and not number of losses I mean, we really don't know what goes on. I'm just assuming they're being as "principled" as they can be, and losses makes sense as a factor (and it appears the committee has behaved this way in both prior years' selections (note, that's why OSU wasn't selected last year (eye test winner) as they were competing with other one loss teams, and lost the "tie break" to them as they did not have the conference championship, which OU, Clemson and Sparty did... and Sparty also had H2H))

I don't think we WANT to know what goes on in that room. I picture a bunch of people in a poorly lit conference room listening to Barry Alvarez drone on and on and on...

Then again, if PSU or scUM gets in over Wisconsin (in the right scenario), I'll believe these people are truly impartial.

Door's wide open for the Western Michigan Flecktones.

Whoa. Didn't expect to run into a Bela Fleck reference this evening.

Nobody expects the Bela Fleck reference.

Heather Dinich and Jonathan Vilma are both fucking retarded. Dinich won't say Washington is a lock for the playoffs yet, despite just beating the #8 team in the country by 31 points in a conference championship game. Their only threat was #5 scUM, which has two losses and beat Colorado at home by a lesser score than by which Washington just won. There's no way anyone is going to jump Washington now...they're in.

Conversely, Vilma says if the Pedsters win the B1G championship game they should get in over Ohio State because they won the head-to-head and they're conference champions...never mind that Ohio State controlled the game for the most part, has one fewer loss, has a far better resume, beat the scUM team that killed the Pedsters, and is division co-champs with the Pedsters. Oh, and the fact the OSU is currently #2 and Pedo State is #8.

These fucks actually get paid for this shit...

Their job has nothing to do with accuracy and everything to do with getting you to watch. (I know you know that but I just figured I'd restate the obvious for anyone in the peanut gallery.)
