College Football Playoff (2016-2017 Season)

I don't get why "Alabama Should Still Be #1 Even If They Lose To Florida"

isn't that kind of saying that conference title games don't really matter?

I mean how many times has a #1 team lost and not dropped even 1 spot (not counting the Oklahoma 2003 BCS fiasco) or are we just giving special treatment to Bama now?

Maybe in the committees minds the conference championship is only a "tie breaker" if the 2 teams have the same record?

Ohio State still has 1 less loss then Penn State. Sparty had the same record last year. So the comparison is pretty dumb.

I'd be absolutely shocked if they left Ohio State out at this point, since they have them #2 right now. It would be a lot more nerve racking if they were 4 or even 3
Yes they said we are not close in the eyes of the committee. Even with a win how close could a win over 6th ranked Wisconsin get them after we just defeated #3 Michigan

Besides, if we don't beat Michigan they don't even play in the championship game. So that'd essentially punish OSU for winning against Michigan if somehow we got dropped out

What people are again forgetting is let's say PSU blows the doors off Wisconsin and gets in. Would the committee really drop OSU for Washington? Both UW and OSU played Rutgers and we beat them twice as bad. OSU will have been 3-1 against the top 10 and UW will then be 1-1.

It's either ONLY OSU or OSU and PSU.

Well PSU is clearly 3rd in the B1G pecking order in their eyes, since they are behind Wisconsin and scUM

I think Wisconsin is going to beat them so then it wouldn't matter. Likewise i'd expect the top 4 to stay as is if everyone wins this weekend, I don't think they are big fans of Washington but it's hard to see them getting dropped out with 1 loss in favor of a 2 loss team, and beating Colorado in the PAC title game is a strong win over current #8 to only help their case.

The left coast may fall into the frick'n ocean if a 2-loss Wisconsin team is picked over Washington as a PAC champ.

I say, make it so.

... And I hope that Wisky 59-0s State Penn so hard in the pooper that jump tsun in the process. Glory be to God...

i mean they probably shouldn't, but they probably will. imo it doesn't really matter because they don't actually matter..OSU is #2 and clearly well ahead of the other B1G teams without winning their division, so..

how would you rank them? OSU-Bama-Clemp-P12/B1G/scUM? Bama steamrolled everyone & played 1 more (meaningless) game, so it's almost understandable if they just take the night off. not to mention they're still clearly the best out there.

tbh only way i'd drop them is if they lose some key guys to injury that would keep them out thru the playoff, but that would imply the people making decisions there aren't knuckle-dragging SEC-cockgobblers, so gl w/ that i guess?

If Wisky wins by a couple scores and Washington loses, I think Wisky jumps michigan. Michigan would have head to head, but Wisky would have conf championship. Michigan's head to head was a close ball game. Winning the toughest conf in the country may trump that a little. Michigan has the bad Iowa loss while Wisky has two top 10 losses. They will somehow work in that Michigan is trending down with 2 losses in last 3 games with a bad performance against Indiana mixed in there as well. I just don't see a conference getting two non-champions in, especially when all parties involved have 2 losses.

Let me start by saying that the social media meltdown of PSU fan sites id hilariously amazing!

My take for this weekend:

If Washington loses and Penn State wins, I have a hard time believing colorado jumps from #8 into a 4 spot. This is scUMs shot of getting in. They will have a tough time putting a team (PSU) over a team (scUM) that beat them by 40! I think this may be their ticket back in.

If Washington loses and Wisky wins, hello Wisky! Wisconsin lost narrowly on the road to scUM and lost narrowly at home to Ohio state. Couple that with beating the big ten east "best" team and being conference champs, and I think it's a real possibility.

I'm assuming the same results would apply if Tech beats Clemson? Or, would Clemson be the best 2 loss team in the country at that point? I believe they're our best chance at getting to Tampa. Not quite sure about Washington.
