College Football Playoff (2016-2017 Season)

If Colorado beats Washington, scUM is in, period IMHO.

1. scUM has by far the "best loss" (2 OT at #2 team), and in fact that loss is "so good" that it negates their stumble at Iowa.
2. scUM beat 2-loss Colorado during the season, so even if Colorado wins the PAC 12, they won't bump scUM
3. The winner of the B1G CCG both lost to scUM during the season, and since the winner of that game will still have two losses neither should bump scum

I'm surprised it suggests that our odds are better to get in if Penn State wins instead of Wisconsin. I had been planning to root for Wisconsin simply as we wouldn't have to "overcome" the loss vs PSU.

Agree. Wisconsin, which went 0-2 against Ohio State & Michigan and comes from the weaker B1G West, would help Ohio State by winning the B1G CCG. The worst case scenario for OSU is Penn State rolling into Indy and blowing Wisconsin out 59-0.

Not that anything like that could ever happen.

I honestly think that skull fucking by Michigan is going to weigh Penn State down more than what people think. No way you should get handled like that if you're truly one of the best teams in the country, injuries be damned.

Final thought on B1G tiebreaker. Earlier said it should be the team with the best ranking. Now think it should be the team w/the best regular season record. If both teams have the same record, then go w/head to head winner. The Buckeyes would be the pick regardless.

Of course, this year it's working as a positive for the B1G as they may get two teams maybe even 3 by some miracle, in the final four. But in future years it may screw the B1G out of any team in the playoffs.

Again, a team could lose all 3 out of conference games and be lucky against the best team in the B1G and still make the B1G championship game.

btw, both AP and coaches poll still have the pedsters at #8 in the rankings.:rofl::rofl:

Cry me a river ...

My two cents:

Win or lose, Bama is 1 seed.

Ohio State is not only the second most deserving team..they are the second best team. They are in, and likely 2 seed, but maybe get passed by Clemson, but that wouldn't change matchup. Clemson wins and they are in, lose they are out. Wisconsin has a better resume than Penn State. If Wisconsin wins I really see them jumping Washington. If Penn State wins, that loss to Pitt and 39 point loss may do them in.

So my predictions:

Clemson, Washington, Wisconsin win or;
Clemson, Colorado, Wisconsin win:

Alabama vs. Wisconsin
Clemson vs. Ohio State

Clemson, Washington, Penn State win:

Alabama vs. Washington
Clemson vs. Ohio State

Clemson, Colorado, Penn State win:

Alabama vs. Penn State
Clemson vs. Ohio State

Virginia Tech, Washington, Wisconsin win:

Alabama vs. Wisconsin
Ohio State vs. Washington

Virginia Tech, Washington, Penn State win:

Alabama vs. Penn State
Ohio State vs. Washington

Virginia Tech, Colorado, Wisconsin win:

Alabama vs. Oklahoma
Ohio State vs. Wisconsin

Virginia Tech, Colorado, Penn State win:

Alabama vs. Oklahoma
Ohio State vs. Penn State

But if Oklahoma loses...then you may honestly get....

Alabama vs. Michigan
Ohio State vs. B1G winner

Because you really can't put Colorado in over Michigan, with the same records and head to head. And I just don't see Oklahoma State, with their weak schedule getting in, unless the committee feels bad for their ref foul up loss, but let's be honest, why the heck do you even let Central Michigan come close to beating you. But maybe you do put Oklahoma State in over Michigan.

These are humans, so we can't be safe for sure. The only way we are out is if PSU, Wash, and Clemson win. And if this happens, all three of those teams are going to have to look AMAZING in their win, and Oklahoma probably would need to lose or look awful. Although I think that game won't affect us too much in this scenario.

Remember, as the rankings stand now neither Clemson nor Washington have a top 10 win. Ohio State has three of them.

Couldn't have typed it better myself. For all the scenarios that I considered we agree. I even agree with you conclusion on a few that I hadn't considered.
