College Football Playoff (2015-16 Season)

Because there are allegedly 5 power conferences and only 4 spots. I really don't consider the Big 12 or the ACC as "power" conferences though.

I understand that. So really it's just a debate between which 4 of the 5 power conference champ is best, that's it? Then get rid of the vague ass rules and make it an auto bid and the committee will choone between the 5.

Well this year it didn't matter. But assuming you're referring to Stanford if they would have gotten in, then yes. I think an 8 team playoff with the first round at the top seed's stadium will be great. Maybe 2 weeks after the end of the season. And to not force the loser to miss out on valuable bowl practices, you can have the losers face each other an additional 2 weeks later during the main bowl season. Imagine this:
ND at Clemson
OSU at bama
Stanford at MSU
Iowa at Oklahoma

Also, imagine Florida in a future year going to the Shoe in mid December? Awesome.

Oh I would absolutely love to see this scenerio.

Yeah, I'm referring to Stanford above OSU. They are ahead, regardless of their W-L because of theit CCG (over a 5 loss team).

There already is an 8 team playoff....its called conference championships.
I don't blame the committee for not putting Ohio State in the Playoffs...We had our shot...We lost the game.

I hate that they put Oklahoma at #4.
There are two teams that could have beat Alabama, neither of which are MSU.

BAMA just got a huge break by avoiding Oklahoma in the first round.
Damn you committee.

Jeff Long is a fucking idiot. Iowa proved more in defeat than they did winning? Then why the fuck didn't Ohio State get the benefit of the doubt when it was clear the weather had an impact on playcalling? This fucking committee man.
Iowa lost to MSU by 3 on a neutral field; we lost to MSU by 3 at home.

Iowa faced MSU with All Big Ten QB Connor Cook; we faced MSU with a couple of bums at QB.

Iowa won their division; we didn't.

Iowa finished with a 12-1 record; we finished with an 11-1 record.

Iowa beat two ranked teams (#12 Northwestern; #23 Wisconsin); we beat one ranked team (#17 Michigan).

Iowa deserved to be ranked ahead of Ohio State.

Ranked behind Stanford what total BS....
This I do agree with.

Then the committee should have actually articulated all of these points in the first place. Jeff Long's "Iowa looked good in defeat" makes the committee seem incompetent and is making up rules to suit their rankings.

I'm pretty sure that the committee considered all of those points during their several hours of deliberations. Don't rely on Jeff Long's 30-second sound bites.

I still think OSU is better than MSU and Iowa...
I would rather OSU had played MSU on a neutral field (in a dome)
I wasn't that impressed with Cook.
Iowa had a better year, but its still Iowa, we could take them any day of the week.

While in theory the conference championships could be considered quarter finals, they aren't. As long as there are 5 conferences and one doesn't have a champ. Game. Also, what if one year an 8-4 team upsets a 10-2 team in their conf. Championship? Should they go? What I would have is 8 teams, and if you win your conference with 2 (maybe 3) losses, you guarantee a spot. Otherwise, it's not a guaranteed spot.

Wasn't Cook still hurt last night? I know he played, but I thought he was limited. I assume he will be ready for bama.

Cook is exactly the type of qb that gives bam problems. People say mobile qbs are the problem, but since 2010, Bama has had trouble when a qb has shown pinpoint accuracy, which cook has when healthy. To me, his performance is the key to the game.
