College Football Playoff (2015-16 Season)

What is the point of having a committee of the playoffs are going to be all conference champions every year, regardless of their records?

they will have to expand it sooner than later

Every major sport has realized that sometimes the conference winners aren't the best teams

My concern there is that it means a structural change to the regular season which has already been diluted by just a 4 team playoff.

Yes, especially when you don't play everybody in your conference....

Well this year it didn't matter. But assuming you're referring to Stanford if they would have gotten in, then yes. I think an 8 team playoff with the first round at the top seed's stadium will be great. Maybe 2 weeks after the end of the season. And to not force the loser to miss out on valuable bowl practices, you can have the losers face each other an additional 2 weeks later during the main bowl season. Imagine this:
ND at Clemson
OSU at bama
Stanford at MSU
Iowa at Oklahoma

Also, imagine Florida in a future year going to the Shoe in mid December? Awesome.

I'm also very protective of the regular season, and worry about what eight teams will do to it.

Sooner indeed, especially if the ratings tank this year.

It's simple math. More teams = more interest = more viewers = more $$$.

It will be interesting to see if OSU/ND at 1pm New Year's day has a higher rating than the (2) playoff games. ok, ok, people have better things to do New Year's Eve than watch Sparty get destroyed by 'Bama.
