College Football Playoff (2015-16 Season)

I appreciate SEC-hate as much as the next guy, but I feel like the 2-5 bowl record the SEC West put up last year has caused some people to overreact in the other direction. So it's not the greatest division in the history of football. That doesn't mean all those teams suddenly suck.

Personally, I want an SEC team in the CFP. Hell, put two of them in there. As long as OSU gets the opportunity to prove it on the field, I'm all for it. If Zeke has to run 85 yards through the heart of the south again to pull it off, even better.
It would take some sort of miracle finish to put two teams from any conference in the final four. Of course it would be fun to watch what would happen if TCU and Baylor would each end up with one loss and Notre Dame would get in with 1 loss while they went to January first games. All of Art Briles would weep.

It would not require a miracle finish. All it takes is a brief blip where a lot of big brands, most importantly Notre Dame, are down and all have two or three losses. In 2011 there was only one unbeaten (LSU) and five one-loss teams (Alabama, Oklahoma St, Stanford, Boise St, Houston), so the BCS gave LSU & Alabama a rematch in a two team playoff. Given the cyclical nature of college football, I expect we will get two teams from one conference in the playoff bracket sometime within the first five or six years.

And when that happens, we're officially 13 months away from an eight team playoff.

I believe his point is they are a decent pass defense this year compared to years past. This is only reinforced when You cite about 6 games showing their horrible pass d and only 1 is this year. Honestly they don't play an elite passing team this year so they won't be tested until bowl season if at all. My thought is Bama would lose 3 games in PAC or b12 but would lose only 1 in sec big or ACC. They are built for their league. It's about matchups and they are built for who they play. LSU game is going to be one of those glorious 6-9 snoozers with my guess is Bama on top. Just my opinion but lsu is the only top 7 team that I think Bama would beat in a bowl game. Could only hope they draw clemson or baylor in the playoffs and see if they can win a shootout. I don't really care where the Buckeyes land. All games would be tough and we aren't gettingbhome field advantage against any of them. I'm happy someone stripped the 1 from this team. They really needed it.

Who else can I reference this year? Georgia and Wisconsin are two of the best teams they've played... neither has a pass game to speak of. His attempt to fall back on Aggy is laughable. That'd be like claiming our defense is badass based on Indiana (who btw is much higher than Aggy)... yea, those teams have a pulse... and both our defenses are legit.
But we're talking jumping a 1-loss team above multiple undefeated teams despite that loss showing 2 glaring faults, one of which is chronic for several years now - and other teams that defeated the one they lost to. It's literally as if that loss never happened... and it was the same schtick with the Bama crowd last year, acting as if Auburn and Ole Miss didn't expose weaknesses. Well, it's there... and clearly it hasn't been fixed. Alabama lost giving up 43 points while holding them under 100yds rushing. That's actually impressive -- to hold a team under 100yds rushing with a 2.9ypa, and still give up 43 points.
Can't claim those faults are fixed with that 1 in the loss column and no other proficient opponents to speak of. It's not like they played TCU another week and had a better showing.

Passing offenses they've played...
11 Miss
36 Aggy
38 Arkansas
45 Wisconsin
81 Tenn
86 Georgia

The only one worth mentioning in a playoff sense is the one that burned them. And, again, it's been going on for years when they face teams that have very good passing games... but they get a free pass and jump 2 teams that actually beat Ole Miss. Florida's loss is to #2 LSU, and Memphis is undefeated.

The records fail them. The eye test fails - chronic issues on pass defense and serious issues at QB.

I'll give you the issues at qb. I say the entire offense is flawed

I see no logical way you could have watched the Ole Miss game and thought the defense didn't do well. The stats do not tell the story. Do you not agree that over 130 yds and 2 tds came on fluke plays (one should have been a penalty)?

As far as the "eye test" goes, the secondary looks much better. I don't remember anybody getting burned like they did in the past.

I'm also not saying Bama should be ahead of undefeated teams.

Nope.
And the "big play = fluke" is kinda laughable since that's basically the issue with your pass defense.
Did you watch the game? I didn't call it a fluke because it was a big play. It was a fluke because offensive linemen were five yards down field. The other play was a fluke because the qb threw the ball while horizontal and it made contact with two players and a helmet before being caught by a third player. That's how they got two of their three pass tds.

I'm going to look up how many big plays Bama has given up this year. I can assure you, it is far fewer than in previous years.

Ask me how often the caped wonder cheers when there aren't cameras pointed his way. I'm often near him for half the game. It's as frequent as michigan fans cheering with their mouths instead of keys.

Jimmy Crum's grandson stated on twitter that particular cunty fuckbat showed up at Crum's funeral and passed out autographed photos of himself and tried to be the center of attention. The family was horrified.

I watched large parts of it and agree with you, it wasn't like they were burned in the past regardless of the total passing yards given up.

That said, Bama has only played two teams with an offensive passing pulse so far so that has to have something to do with the fewer than previous years torchings argument.

It gives us all something to talk about but I sense mostly everyone agrees this means jack squat at this point in the year.
