Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Virginia is one of those programs that i can't figure out why they aren't better. Fertile recruiting ground, decent weather, good academics, beautiful campus, a power five conference there for the taking. Mendenhall is a helluva coach. Maybe gets them there. They last sniffed national relevance a quarter century ago with Shawn and Herman Moore.

Even their basketball program was mediocre at best until the past couple of years. Maybe they're getting serious about football now, too. Good hire for them, imo.

Yes, i think anyone who watches CFB should ask why you would leave a program that cares about a winning culture to one that cares more about basketball and is happy with 6 wins!
3.5 million vs 900k. Charlottesville vs. Provo, P5 vs mid-major independent. And for the record, UVA is NOT happy with 6 wins. Also am pretty sure that UVA's facilities are nicer than BYU's.

BTW 3.5 is about 1 mil more than they were paying London, and puts Mendenhall in a tie with Petrino for 2nd highest salary in the ACC behind Jimbo

I hear you. But VA Tech has run that state for a very long time, and they also got a new coach. More of a recruiting ground, but this is still pretty surprising. They're not much of a fan base, and many are fine with 6-7 wins, I went to college a few hours south and had a number of friends that were Wahoos. They haven't had a 9win season since 2007 and a double digit win season since 2001. BYU has a much better football history, UVA is still mainly a basketball school. I figured Bronco would go to the fake USC, Mizzou, but good luck to him. It'll be a tough road at UVA, but its a great school in a great location

So the BYU job is open now, eh?

Bronco has stepped up to another league in coaches, as the Coastal now has arguably better coaching than the B1G! Larry Fedora, David Cutliffe, Mark Richt, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi, and Justin Fuente. That's some serious competition he's stepped into

Until they actually produce results, comparing their coaching to the B1G (I don't know why you went there as it was) is kinda meaningless....

Just picked a conference that's all. And if predictions can be made on how dynamic the OSU offense was supposed to be this season, that I can do the same on coaches in that division.
