Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

The big concerns most of us Bama fans have about smart is, will he coach the playoffs (if Bama makes them), and will he take Scott Cochran.

Cochran has been a tremendous asset to the team. Just look at what happened to UGA, LSU, and Tennessee after the injuries piled up.
He should just go now. Georgia needs a 24/7 head coach and Bama has a game Saturday. Every second he spends on Florida (I'm aware they can't score) is one he could be recruiting.

BREAKING: @GM_Brillo returns as #BCLions head coach as Jeff Tedford resigns.

Looks like Tedford will be taking one of the available jobs.

Re: There are no obvious ties between Tedford's coaching background and the college jobs that are available. Openings remain in the SEC (South Carolina, Missouri), the ACC (Miami, Virginia, Syracuse), and the Big Ten (Maryland, Rutgers), plus a score of jobs in the Group of Five conferences. None of them, however, are on the West Coast, which is where Tedford has spent his entire college coaching career (Cal, Oregon, Fresno State). As an Oregon assistant, his head coach was Mike Bellotti, who is no longer coaching.

Re: The University of California fired Tedford in 2012 after 11 seasons at the school, where Tedford had posted an 82-57 record.

Anyone think Cal wants to hire him back?

. Knew there was no way two guys like him and Harbaugh could get along.

What 2 giant assholes can't work together? I'd pay for my son's college before I'd take a scholarship to play for that douche. I hope he sucks so bad at Maryland that the only job he can get is defensive line at Juno State CC. If in some fucked up future Durkin ended up as the HC at tOSU I'd rather my son go to scUM than play for him. [/rant]

I'll just say anyone that watched enough BG film to prep for a game during his time there would come to a similar conclusion. Biggest asshole I've ever seen on the football field. He wasn't physically gifted enough so he resorted in cheap shots and dick moves to succeed. There's playing smart and playing dirty and he lived on the wrong side of that line.

Honestly don't understand why Rutgers wouldn't just hire Greg Schiano back. He built that program from less than nothing to a B1G member and turned down multiple opportunities to leave before the NFL finally lured him away.

Did he napalm some bridges on his way out that I don't know about?

Re: Schiano's contract with Rutgers, which paid him approximately $2.3 million per year, had five seasons left on it.
.
.
Greg Schiano, who returned Rutgers to respectability but never delivered the championships he repeatedly promised during his 11 years on the job, has abruptly left the school — at the height of recruiting — to become the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a person familiar with the situation.

I'm sure he pissed somebody off at Rutgers when he left; he had 5 years left on his contract and his leaving was solely his doing.
