Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

This fits in with the discussion on conference expansion - I thnk many don't realize just how different the Big Ten is academically from the other Big 5. Grade levels are held, no over signing, commitments are kept, - damn, i wish Gee had thought before choosing to make a joke to cover a difficult question - and presidents and academics remain an important voice in how athletic programs are run. Just so obviously not the case in the ACC, BIG XII, PAC and especially the SEC. each of those items of academic control makes a difference and the total becomes significant.

Kind of? This is humiliating for them. They've had 2 coaches bail in 24 months. The Juggalos have taken 5 years to lose 2 coaches, and at least those were to ND and Tennessee...who are somewhat big names. Oregon State and Arkansas are junior varsity programs.

I don't follow the Pac 12 much, so not going to comment on Oregon St., but Arkansas is an absolute step down from Wisconsin.

at Wiscy you're bare minimum in the discussion for top 3 schools in the conference. you have a realistic shot at a big time bowl game every year, and are at least contenders for conference championships consistently.

at Arkansas, you're the 5th (at best) best destination in your own division, let alone the entire conference.
LSU, A&M, and both Alabama schools are all better jobs than Arky ever was or ever will be.
add Tenn., Florida, and UGA from the east, and you're at best the 7th best coaching job in conference.

Arkansas is a state that doesn't produce NFL talent, so you have to go out of state to get it.
but for Arkansas to get talent from Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, they have to wait inline behind damn near a dozen other schools.

oh, but the fanbase demands you put them on par with Alabama and LSU.

good luck with that gig.
