Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

I think that's a pretty decent hire, but again, not the kind that is going to get them anywhere near the highs of the Kelly years. If they can accept that their ceiling is probably being a consistent 9-4 type team, they should be fine. I don't think the fans or Uncle Phil will be happy with that, though.
They're already grumbling. Local chatter is that it was done more to try to salvage the recruiting class than anything (Uncle Phil's priority). If that happens they'll be happy for now. Another Las Vegas Bowl probably won't go over well though.

FootballScoop has an update on the Kent State coaching search, which has become an absolute clown show: http://footballscoop.com/news/update-kent-state/

- Job has been vacant since November 22nd
- Put out feelers last year for interested parties; no dice
- Made South Dakota HC Bob Nielson their top target; he turned them down
- Have been told "no" in one way or another by 14 other candidates
- Search has focused primarily on FCS, D-II and D-III coaches
- Ed Warinner is legitimately interested in the job and has the backing of Urban, Saban and Fleck; he hasn't been offered
- Mount Union HC Vince Kehres is mentioned as a candidate; he has not been contacted yet but could be after the D-III title game and would listen
- Kansas QB coach Garrett Riley (brother of Lincoln) has been interviewed; he's 28 and just completed his first season on the FBS level as an "on-field" coach
- One other (unnamed) candidate from a lower division school has interviewed recently

Thanks for posting and all, but the number of fucks I give about Kent State and its coaching search is fewer than one.

I hope they are paying attention so I can help them

Call Tom Arth down in Tennessee - he will come back up in a split second.

I know that quite a few of you have been waiting for this announcements and Kent State has found a football coach… no kidding

Sean Lewis
Lewis, the co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Syracuse, has accepted the job, according to a report by Syracuse.com.
“You can’t send a kid up in a plane like that. That’s suicide!”

“What other choice do we have?”
