Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Because I know many of you wanted some salt rubbed in the wound, here are Illinois's rushing totals against Minnesota:

35 carries; 430 yards; 12.3 ypc; 5 TD

And here are OSU's:

32 carries; 92 yards; 2.9 ypc; 0 TD

On the other hand, as Lou Holtz allegedly told Urban Meyer about the Bowling Green job, "Of course it's a shit job. If it wasn't, they wouldn't be offering it to you."

I think Mid Majors are a different animal. Dominance tends to ebb and flow in those conferences. It's a lot more about strategy, coaching, and scouting... because most schools are competing for the same "leftovers". There's more parity with the talent level. It's good to see if a coach can succeed at Mid Majors first, because that lets you know they at least have the basics... and start to have a semblance of a functioning staff.

When I see guys like Narduzzi and Ash go straight from P5 Coordinator to P5 Head Coach at bottom feeders... I have to wonder who they really know on the other side of the ball to run things? And frequently that's where it all falls apart. A promoted coordinator will essentially keep being the coordinator... but have to find somebody to do the other side of the ball... and frequently don't.

Weird that a guy led an NFL team to a super bowl with rex grossman doesn’t seem to be able to coach a program to bowl eligibility.
