Tribe history dictates that they will use Santana just like they used Sandy Alomar and Victor Martinez: mostly at catcher, occasionally at 1B and rarely at DH. In their terms, that provides the "highest position value." They've chosen several times to sacrifice defense and offense at 1B to have this mostly C and some 1B approach. Like they did with Alomar and Martinez, they'll use Santana this way to maximize his trade value before he becomes a free agent. Santana's a free agent in 2017 unless the team exercises an option for that season. So, expect him to be traded around 2016.

Baring injury or (please, please!) the sale of the team, Lars will be the Opening Day 1B in 2013.

It doesn't matter if the 1B is Lars Anderson, Lars Ulrich, or whoever the fuck it is...this team will suck for all eternity.
