:slappy: These bums are just getting comical now

Game tied 5-5 in the 10th and they score 3 runs to go up 8-5

then give up 5 runs in the bottom of the 10th (walkoff HR included) to lose 10-5

What we have going on here is a retarded game of chicken. The fans aren't going to show up until management spends money and puts a decent product on the field, but the franchise won't spend until people start coming to the games.

So you're saying the team will continue to suck and fans will continue to not show up?

I'm prepping myself for the worst. Unless the increased emphasis on the draft starts yielding some players, I don't expect them to spend to improve...which makes the Ubaldo-O trade last year even more baffling, to me. I'm less than impressed with Antonetti thus far...

It's pretty much a given that they are not going to spend any money.

these past few drafts have been good according to experts....but it will be 3-4-5 years before we even get a gauge on that.

It does not help that the front office seems to be pretty damn incapable of putting together a team.....given they don't have a lot of money to work with, some of the moves they make are still baffling

Antonetti seems to have no clue what he is doing, Shapiro was a huge hack but i'd take him back any day over what is going on now.

Dream scenario = Dolans sell and there is a total front office cleaning and restructure....odds of this happening are about the same as the Indians winning the world series though.

Shapiro was awful, nobody is worse than him.

But yea I hope Dolan sells too.

Shapiro had his faults, but he did very well finding unheralded guys in other systems, particularly in his first few years. Antonetti looks lost at this point, but he does seem to value the draft much more. Time will tell if it's something he's good at.

really though, management has already sort of won that game. attendance was still bad in 2007 when that team had the best record in baseball and was one game from the world series. in that offseason, they went out and dumped a nice chunk of change for guys like derosa, and had a salary in the top half of baseball at the start of the 2008 season. even before the collapse of 2008, they still didn't draw anybody.

so really, cleveland could dump like $40 million in free agency and get guys like fielder, and be 26th in total attendance instead of 29th. i don't know of too many owners that would make such an investment.
