Them Trotting Tomlin out makes gives the feeling that he's going to end up on the post season roster :smash::smash::smash:

My guess is (a) they had no other starter available because they’re shifting guys around to line them up for postseason, and (b) they didn’t have any other starting pitchers available on the 40 man roster that could be called up.

Or, they gave Tomlin a lovely parting gift: another chance to pitch for a contract with somebody else in 2019.

Indians first team in history to have four pitchers strike out 200 in a season

The Cleveland Indians have become the first team in Major League Baseball history to have four pitchers reach 200 strikeouts in a season.

Mike Clevinger hit that mark with his fourth strikeout against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night, joining fellow starters Carlos Carrasco (217), Trevor Bauer (215) and Corey Kluber (205).

11-10 in September is not encouraging. They need a lot to go right in October. Starts with the bullpen. Climber, Hand, Miller and Allen should be a formidable 6-7-8-9 but they do no instill a lot of confidence right now.

Not a big fan of Climber but Francona seems to be which is even more of a concern for me. I would rather see Bieber come in for an inning or two and then bring in the other three. I guess a lot will depend upon Bauer's arm strength and how long he will be able to go when he starts.

Well, they were unbeatable last September, then coughed it up against the Jankees.

But yeah, they're gonna need a lot to go right in October to do anything. The good news is they potentially have the best starting pitching in the league for October, so if those guys can get hot, they can take down anybody. On paper, the BP should be formidable, but it's been underachieving all year. They're like 7 or 8 games under their pythagorean expectation right now, so (again) on paper, they should have a shot against anyone. But, for whatever reason, they just haven't been able to get and stay hot really at all this season. It's expecting an awful lot for them to suddenly "turn it on" in October.

Plus, the AL is loaded this year. Boston, NY and Houston is a nasty trio to have to go through. I'd like their chances a lot better in the watered down NL.

Tl; dr...i expect an early exit.

Well, at most, they’d only have to go through two of them.

Like you said, it’s baseball. Anything can happen. They’re in as good of a position, with their lineup and rotation, as any other team in the AL. Let the chips fall where they may and enjoy the ride.

Being a super pessimist I see them getting our hopes up then falling apart again

Win 1 of 2 in Houston....then game 3 at home....then just get blown out in 4 and 5. Seems pretty Tribe Like
