Considering the hard on they seem to have for him, I doubt they stop trotting him out anytime soon.

Read: Until the trade deadline and they feel like they need a different option.

Bottom line is, they'll try to rekindle the Gomes of... whatever that one year he wasn't garbage... for as long as they can.

2013 and 2014 he was pretty decent with the bat, he hit .294 in 322 ABs in 13 and .278 in 485 AB in 14 with 32 HR between the 2 seasons.

Big dropoff since 14 though. .231 in 389 AB in 15 and .167 in 264 AB in 16. His OBP was also terrible in the last 2 years at .267 and .201

I guess you could blame injuries, but it just seems like he has zero confidence at the plate, and has not been able to correct it.

Yeah I mean unless something different happens, that's pretty much it. I think they'd probably be happy with something less than black hole in the lineup, but right now it's a black hole. Perez can get you that.

He's broken, plain and simple. MLB history is littered with guys who somehow put it together for one or two years then fell of a cliff. To make matters worse, he doesn't walk, so you're lucky if he gets on base one out of five trips to the plate. A team with WS aspirations can't have that kind of black hole in its lineup.

On one hand I get the "he's my closer" thing, but when it's obvious the guy doesn't have it and you just let him blow the game...wow. Dyson's flailing away in the deep end and his manager just watched him drown, taking his team with him.

Good news for the Tribe, though.
