Now, the rotation...that's a whole other issue. Even with the OF additions, unless Masterson re-discovers his early 2011 form, and Ubald-O stops being a steaming pile of corn-filled dung, this team will still struggle to break .500. I appreciate the effort though...very unexpected.

reynolds could also slide to 3rd, swisher to 1st, and stubbs to right or left...this is all based upon how well chisenhall does...big year for him and we need him to step up bottom line

Really like this lineup too,question's at DH though. This defensive OF is sweet & it gives them a lot of postion flexibility at the DH postion too. Can give different guys DH starts. Starting pitching is still a big concern for this team though.

Well, that's the miracle of de-pronkerizing yourself. (That's a real word)

When you spend a kazillion dollars on a part time DH... it kind of crimps your style.

I'm not sure I like this idea of Reynolds at DH, Stubbs in the OF and Swisher at 1B all that much. (of course, and not to bust yoyoyoyoyoin's chops on saying it too) I don't see 2 CF's in the outfiled, Brantley is only servicaeble in that spot, IMO, but, it does leave a lot of speed in the line-up, I guess... so, maybe Stubbs in the 9 hole there, in that case? But I can't imagine part of the plan with Marson, Gomes, etc, is to make sure Santana DH's more often. (and not have to have him play 1B, where, well, its not that he can't field, he's just not a big target over there)

its all about flexability for francona...swisher can play multiple spots, reynolds can also...a really good thing to have especially when you have the open DH spot as well

If Stubbs is still on the roster on Opening Day, I would think that they might Bourn to RF and have Stubbs play CF and move Swisher to first and Reynolds could become the DH. This is assuming that they do not move Stubbs or Brantley before Opening Day which I don't think will happen.

EDIT: I guess I was a little late with my post:)

Michael Bourn is one of the best coverage center-fielders in the game, so it wouldn't be him sliding to right field.

I do believe Stubbs will be around opening day, but in a platoon situation. He hits lefties at a respectable level (.276 average last year). I expect him to get his starts in RF though.

Francona has a lot of lineup options and I think he likes it that way.

drew stubbs' playing time will be directly correlated with his ability to realize that he is not a power hitter, and needs to make better contact with the ball and use his speed. i doubt francona will be overly tolerant of him using the same approach that netted him 200+ strikeouts last year.
