Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

Baseball used to be my favorite sport. I might even care more about basketball right now since the Cavs at least have some young, promising players. When I was a kid it was baseball, then everything else. Hockey was the only thing close. Now there's barely a point in watching.

Having watched most of his plate appearances over the past three seasons, it wouldn't surprise me if Giambi put together a strong enough spring to accomplish that. He?s still a powerful man. He still has a good eye and a great approach as his .375 on base percentage with Colorado would indicate, but I'm not sure there's enough left in his rank to produce beyond 150-200 plate appearances.

In other words, Giambi might be able to give the Tribe about 50 to 70% of what Pronk did the past few years....at about 5% of what Pronk's prior salary was with Cleveland. More likely, he'll be Johnny Damon without the lousy defense: a guess hitter who occasionally can get the ball out of the infield.
