Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

Well get ready for it to keep coming...these Jurassic Slapnutz all look at a weak roster and Terry Francona at the helm and figure this is the place to milk the MLB teat for another overpaid year or two. I bet there will be at least a half a dozen more.

I actually like the Dice-K signing...low risk, high return type deal. If he rebounds from his surgery at all, and gets back to a MLB level, what did we really hurt?

My only real concern would be that they did this with the intention of keeping Bauer in AAA for a bit. I really hope they let Bauer start the season in the show.

i dont mind Bauer in AAA to start...he only pitched 4 games all of last season in the big leagues and had mixed results....send him to AAA to start the season and bring him up when our #5 pitcher flakes out by mid june

Your reasons to keep Bauer in AAA are not the primary reason the Indians will want to do it. Their first concern is to make sure he does not earn a ML year of service in '13 so they get to control him for another season.

wow

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Indians have signed free agent outfielder Michael Bourn to a four-year, $48 million contract with a vesting option for 2017.

That option vests for $12 million if Bourn reaches 550 plate appearances in 2016. It's another big offseason splash for the Indians, who have also acquired Nick Swisher, Trevor Bauer, Drew Stubbs, Jason Giambi, Mark Reynolds and Daisuke Matsuzaka. They also decided to keep shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. Bourn will start in center field for Cleveland and should retain a good amount of fantasy value. He hit .274/.348/.391 with nine homers, 57 RBI and 42 stolen bases in 155 games last season for the Braves.

edit: this also puts the mets in a bind because they were hoping to sign Bourn for CF, something they are in need of...Indians now technically have 3 CF's and hopefully will unload stubbs for scrap heap to the mets...no way i want them to trade brantley over stubbs

This actually isn't a bad looking lineup.

Sports Radio 1240 Youngstown
Projected 2013 Indians Lineup:
1. Bourn, CF
2. Jason Kipnis, 2B
3. Asdrubal Cabrera, SS
4. Nick Swisher, RF
5. Carlos Santana, C
6. Mark Reynolds, 1B
7. Michael Brantley, LF
8. Chris McGuiness, DH
9. Lonnie Chisenhall, 3B

Now, the rotation...that's a whole other issue. Even with the OF additions, unless Masterson re-discovers his early 2011 form, and Ubald-O stops being a steaming pile of corn-filled dung, this team will still struggle to break .500. I appreciate the effort though...very unexpected.
